Setup Setup 1 Getting Star ted Guide This booklet guides you step by step from setup thr ough printing y our first document, making copies , or scanning an image. Additional information can be found in the printer software help file. Y our C ompaq Limited W arranty sta tement is loca ted in the Appendix of this guide.
Getting Started Guide 2 Step 2 : L oad up to 100 sheets of plain paper Step 3 : C onnec t the power cor d 1 2 3 Make sure you fully extend the paper supports. T o av oid paper misfeeds, slide the paper guide to the left side of the paper . Y ou can use many differ ent types and sizes of paper .
Setup Setup 3 Step 4 : Select your language When the power is connected, the printer will ask yo u to select your language. Press the sta rt /y es button to co nfirm you woul d like to set the la nguage, and then use the up an d down arrow buttons to find the language you wish to use for the LCD panel menus.

However , yo u can maximize the v alue of your printer by a ttaching it to your PC and installing the softw are. The location and orientation of the USB por t on your computer may be differ ent from the one shown.

Co p y ing Copying 17 Co p y i n g The Compaq A3000 has many standard and custom c opy modes and featur es. Basic c opying T o make a single copy with the default settings , simply pr ess the start button. The current settings ar e display ed on the LCD display panel of the A3000.
Getting Started Guide 18 Custom c opying The Compaq A3000 custom copy fea tures ar e chosen thr ough the custom copy button. Use the custom copy button to: > Automatically fit to the pa per size. Scale the document up or down so it completely fills the paper .
Co p y ing Copying 19 About photo sizes The A3000 will print the photos using on e of two la youts. The la yout chosen depends on how you place the original on the scanner glass. The following table shows how many photos can be printed per page in each lay out .
Getting Started Guide 20 C opying to a T -Shirt tr ansfer The A3000 can make a mir ror image of the documen t you ar e copyi ng. This is a common requir ement when cr eating T -Shirt transfers or other specialty projects. T o print a mirr or image of your original: 1 Place the document face down on the scanner glass, and close the scanner lid.
Scanning Scanni ng 21 Scanning The Compaq A3000 offers two wa ys to scan a document. Y ou can scan: > Using your c omputer > Using the Scan button Y ou can scan a document while y our A3000 is printing a previous prin t job, but not while you ar e making copies.

Scanning Scanni ng 23 Adjusting y our scanner settings When using your computer to scan documents , the scanner settings are con trolled by the application y ou are using. If the application uses the TW AI N dialog , you can c ontr ol the resolution, co ntr ast, brightness , and more.
