11 Pr ecaution • Do no t t ouch or moist en rechar geable bat t eries with fr esh wa ter or sea wat er . If a bat t ery is moist ened, it will heat up or rust. • Do no t use or lea ve r echargeable ba t terie s in hot places. If a rechar geable bat t ery is used or left in a hot place, it will leak, r educing its performance and service life.
12 7 Pr ecautions when using thermal paper (printing paper) Pr ecaution • The darkness (densit y) of printing varies accor ding t o the t ype of printing paper used. The printing darkness (densit y) is adjust ed either in the print er driver or using a soft war e command.
13 7 Pr ecautions when installing the printing paper Pr ecaution • Begin printing onl y aft er you ha ve made sur e that the printing paper is str aight where it is eject ed fr om the printing (thermal) head. If it is not str aight, the paper will jam.

20 T urning the P o w er On and Off 7 About the Aut o P ow er Off Function If the conditions list ed belo w continue unchanged over a pr edet ermined time period, the print er automaticall y shuts off t o sa ve bat t ery pow er (this shut off time is set at the fact ory at three minut es).
21 7 Connecting with the Infrar ed P or t (Optical Int erface) C onnec ting the Print er Dat a Reception Me thods The print er pro vides t wo int er faces for r eceiving print data and o ther information: the serial port and the infr ared port (optical int erface).
22 7 Connecting with the Serial P ort (Cable) Fir st obtain the op tional RS-2 3 2C cable (PD7 9 9 0 1-0S). 1 T urn off the pow er t o the print er and the device t o be connec t ed. 2 Insert the cable connec tor str aight int o the printer’ s serial por t.
23 1 T urn on the printer . • The ERR OR LED blinks if no paper is set in the print er . 2 Slide the Co ver Open but t on t owar ds you t o open the cover . 3 Place roll paper in the paper holder so that the end of the paper is e xt ending to war d you, a s sho wn in the figur e.
24 7 If the P aper is Not Loaded Straight Slide the cov er OPEN but t on t o open the cover , then adjust the paper b y hand. Aft er confirming that the paper is comple t ely str aight ened, securel y close the cov er .
