3 Over view Linksys PL WK400 Thank you for choosing this Linksys P owerline network adapter k it. These adapters provide easy setup and let you connect wired and wireless net work devices to your home network. Y ou need at least two Pow erline adapters to create a P owerline network.

5 Over view Linksys PL WK400 How P ow erline networking works Electrical wiring runs through your home or office , carr ying pow er to electrical outlets in every room. The typical wired Ethernet network uses Ethernet network cables to connect your wired network devices.

7 Installing the Adapters Linksys PL WK400 How t o connect your PLE400 Y ou can use your PLE400 to provide Internet access to the rest of your Powerline network (see “How to share Internet access” above). Or , if you used a different Po werline adapter to share Internet access, you can install your PLE400 elsewhere in your home .
8 Using the Utility Linksys PL WK400 3. Move your PL W400 t o a power outlet near the wir eless network device(s) you want t o connect. T ypically , this area is not cover ed well by your home’ s wireless network router . The P owerline LED flashes, then sta ys on when the c onnection to the rest of the P owerline network is finished.
9 Using the Utility Linksys PL WK400 NOT E If you try to change the settings of a Powerline devic e from a computer that is not connected dir ectly to that device with a cable, you are pr ompted for a passw ord. The device passwor d is printed on the back of the device.
10 T roubleshooting Linksys PL WK400 6. Click the Wireless Settings tab to change the wireless network name (SSID), wireless security type, or passphrase/key . Settings are applied to the adapter(s) immediately . Close the window to exit the utility .
11 T roubleshooting Linksys PL WK400 6. If this solution does not work, make sure that the electrical outlet is working properly . Plug a different device into the outlet, and tr y to tur n it on. Y ou cannot connec t to other computers on your lo cal network or to the Internet.
