1 3. Eac h gate operator is provided wit h two safet y warning placar ds. The p lacard s are to be installe d on the fro nt and back of the g ate where they are plainly visible. The placar ds may be mounted using ca ble ties through t he four holes provide d on each p lacard.

Mounting Options Mounting lo catio ns vary d epend ing on the t yp e and st yle of your gate. NOTES: • The top of the operator must be mounted at least 10 inches above the ground. Environmental conditions should be considered at this time. • The operator is not recommended for plastic or vinyl gates.
1 MANUAL RELEASE Inser t the key into the loc k and turn it 180° counterclo ck wise. T urn the release leve r 1 80° c ounterclo ck wise. The op erator is now in manual mod e. 2 DETERMINE THE POSITION OF THE EXTENSION BRACKET The extensio n bracket can be assem bled to work o n a Left-Hand or a Right-Hand gate.
3 MEASURING AND MARKING FOR THE GATE BRACKET Before procee ding, begi n with the gate in the fully close d positio n. There are t wo method s for determining the proper lo catio n of the po st brackets : • Paper template (located on the bac k page of this manual.
4 POSITION THE EXTENSION BRACKET TO POST BRACKET Assemble t he post brac ket b y placing t he extension br acket on top of post brac ket. Inser t the bolt t hrough the brackets and fasten them using t he washer , lo ck washer and nut . DO N OT T I GH T E N AT T HIS T IME .
6 7 POSITION GATE OPERATOR ON GATE The post brac ket assembly can b e mounted several places on the gate post. Refer to page 1 1 for mounting optio ns. Place the oper ator arm against gate post at the desired ver ti cal po sition and tem porarily se cure post br acket with a clamp .
8 TEST GATE TRAVEL Manually op en and close t he gate. Ensure that the operator does n ot bind against the pull -to - open brac ket. Ensure that the piston d oes not bot tom out. 1/2" (1.3 cm) Do not allow piston to fully extend or fully retract.
9 SECURE POST BRACKET TO GATE POST Mark holes for the p ost bracket. Remove the clamp and t he oper ator , an d set both aside. Next, dr ill adequ ate holes in the gate post. Welder (Optional) Secure the p ost brac ket to the gate post using hardware.
To prevent SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from a moving gate: • Install warning signs on the front and back of the gate in PLAIN VIEW. • Permanently secure each warning sign in a suitable manner using fastening holes. 11 WARNING SIGN PLACEMENT Wa rning plac ard s MUST be installed on both sides of th e gate and in plain view .
13 MOUNT THE CONTROL BOX The control box MUST be mounted within 5' of the gate operator. Mount the control box as high as possible for best radio reception. RESE T Screws (4) Open the Control Box Remove screws and open the control box. Remove the Control Board Disconnect the reset button, alarm, and coaxial connector.

Connect the Gate Operator (Gate 2) to the Control Box (Model L A412-S Only) Occ asionally in d ual gate installations, one g ate will need to open fi rst and close se con d. This would hap pen if there was an ornamental overhang on one g ate or if using a solenoid lo ck , for example.
5 CONNECT SECOND OPERATOR TO CONTROL BOARD (MODEL LA412-S ONLY) • Before digging, c ontac t loc al underground ut ility locating companies. • T rench acros s drivew ay to bury the ex tension cabl e. • Use PV C c onduit to prevent damage to c ables.
6 JUNCTION BOX The following items are required to c omplete the junc tion b ox installation : • 4 x 4 Juncti on Box with 3 /4" NPT threaded por t h oles • Screws • PV C C onduit Open th e juncti on box by removing screws (4) and set aside.
7 CONNECT WATERTIGHT CONNECTORS Route operator cable an d extension cable t hrough watertight c onnec tor nut and watertight c onnec tor . Inser t ca bles and watertight c onnec tors into th e holes in the bot tom of the jun cti on box (not provided) .
SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION Select Site for Solar Panel(s) The solar panel(s) must be located in an open area clear of obstructions and shading for the entire day. The solar panel(s) comes with a 10' cable. If a location near the control box cannot be found, an additional cable will be required.
1 OVERVIEW OF SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION Make sure the control b ox has two 1 2V 7 AH batteries inst alled. Do not co nnect batteries until instruc ted. Solar Panel (facing South) Control Box Solar Pane.
2 POSITION SOLAR PANEL(S) NOTE: If the panel(s) is not casting a shadow, the battery is not being charged. The loc ation of the panel (s ) is crit ical to th e succ ess of the inst allation. In general, the panel (s) s hould be mounted using the provid ed angle brac ket facing due south .
3 POSITION SOLAR BRACKET Position solar bracket on mounting sur fac e. Mark and drill holes. NOTE: Solar panel(s) MUST be installed facing south. Use a compass to determine direction. 4 INSERT MOUNTING BOLTS Inser t t wo bolts into th e track lo cated on the bac k of the solar panel ( s) .
7 CONNECT SOLAR PANEL(S) TO OPERATOR CONTROL BOX Open th e control b ox cov er . Disc onne ct all power and batteries from th e control b oard. Run the so lar panel cabl e to the bot tom of th e contro l box.
8 CONNECT BATTERIES The batteries are c harge d in circ uit by using the solar panel (provided ). Locate the t wo white batter y p lugs on th e lef t-hand side of the c ontrol b ox. Connect the p lug from the batter y to c onnec tor on the c ontrol b oard.
PROGRAMMING Program Limits The limits are internal set ting s that indic ate when the gates ar e in the fully op en position an d the fully close d positio n. For proper func tionalit y , the limit s must be programm ed during the inst allation proces s.
NOTES: • The gate with the longer travel span (opening) must be set as the primary gate (GATE 1). • If one gate is overlapping the other, the gate that is overlapping must be connected to GATE 1 so it will start moving before the other gate; gate 2 may need to be closed fi rst if there is overlap or a gate lock is being used.
Force and Timer to Close FORCE ADJUSTMENT The operator is equi pped a with an o bstruc tion sensing feature . If the gate encounters an o bstru cti on the o perator will automatic ally rev erse dire ctio n and stop. Based on t he length and weight of t he gate it may be necessar y to make force adjust ments.

Y our gate operator is programm ed with self-d iagnostic c apabilit ies. The diagnost ic LED will fl ash a number of time s then pause signif ying it has found a potential issue. Consult Diagno stic Char t be low . Diagnostic Char t Operator is in sleep mode.
