g 23 1. Before Using for the First Time 1.1. Setting up the Appliance Choose a suit able, le vel, stable , unheated, dry surfa ce. Check tha t there is adequate air circulation. Important: If the appliance is placed in a warm r oom after being br ought in from t he cold, wait appr ox.

g 25 2.6. Adjusting th e Water Hardness Y our appli ance can be adjusted to the hardness of the water used. The water hardness must be adjusted correctly so that the automatic calcificati on indi- cator can function corr ectly (see also Section 9 ).

g 27 3.1. Adjusting the Amount of Water (Figur e 1 0) The amount of wate r per cup can be adjusted using the selector dial (Figure 1/R). Depending on you r taste, select a “small” espresso (turn selector dial anticlockwise) or a “lar ge” coffee with crema (turn select or dial clockwise).

Frothing Milk (Figures 13 to 18) Hot steam can be used bo th for fr oth- ing milk for ca ppuccino and for he at- ing liquids. 3 For one cup of cappuccino, fill a lar ge cup up to ½ to 2/3 full with espr esso and then add the froth ed milk. Always use cool, fresh (low fat) milk to achieve the best frothing results.
