E-4 Power Outlet Your digital piano runs on standard household power. Be sure to turn off power whe never you are not using the digital piano. Use only the AC adaptor (JEITA St andard, with unifie d polarity plug) that comes with this digital piano. Use of a different type of AC ad aptor can cause malfunction of the digital piano.
English Power Outlet E-5 AC Plug Configurations Depending on the geographic area, your digital piano may come with a second AC plug. Use the AC plug that matches the configuration of the wall outlet in your area. The AC adaptor is shipped from the factory with one of the AC plugs shown below ins talled.
E-6 Connections IMPORT ANT! • Whenever connecting somethin g to the digital pian o, first use th e VOLUME controller to set the volume to a low level. After connecting, you can adjust the volume to the level you want. Connect commercially available head phones to the PHONES jacks.

E-8 Playing with Differen t Tones 3. Use the VOLUME contro ller to adjust the volume. NO TE • GRAND PIANO tones (MODERN, CLASSIC) Your digital piano has a total of 16 built-in tones. The MODERN and CLASSIC tone s are stereo sampled tones that can be sel ected using the GRAND PIANO buttons.
English Playing with Different Tones E-9 Use the following procedure to layer two tones, so they sound at the same time. When specifying two tones fo r layering, first tone you select will be the main tone, while the second tone will be the layered tone.
E-10 Playing with Differen t Tones To turn reverb on and off 1. While holding down the FUNCTION button, press the MODERN button to toggle reverb on (lamp lit) and off (lamp unlit). To turn chorus on and off 1. While holding down the FUNCTION button, press the CLASSIC button to toggle chorus on (lamp lit) and off (lamp unlit).
English Playing with Different Tones E-11 1. Press the METRONOME button. • This starts the metronome. • The lamp above the SONG a button flash in time with the metronome beat. 2. To change the beat, hold down the FUNCTION button as you press one of the METRONOME BEAT keys to select a beat setting.
E-12 Playing with Differen t Tones You can use the Duet Mode to split the piano’s keyboard in the center so two people can play a duet. The left and right side keyb oards have virtually the same range. The left pedal operates as the left side damper pedal, while the r ight pedal is the ri ght side damper pedal.
E-13 English Playing Back Built-in Songs Your digital piano comes wit h a Music Library of 60 built-in tunes. You can play all 60 tunes in sequence, from beginning to end. 1. While holding down the FUNCTION button, press the SONG a button. • This will start repeat demo playback of the built-in songs in sequence, from 01 through 60.
E-14 Playing Back Built-in Songs 4. To stop playback, press the SO NG a button again. • Playback will stop automatically when the end of the song is reached. NO TE • Pressing the + and – keys at the same time will sel ect song number 01. • You also can adjust the playback tempo a nd volume of the song.
E-15 English Recording and Play Back You can store the notes you play in digital piano memory for later playback. A track is a container of recorded data, and a song consists of two tracks: Track 1 and Track 2. You can record each track separately and then combine them so they play back together as a single s ong.
E-16 Recording and Play Back After recording to either of the tracks of a song, you ca n record to the other track while listening to playback what you recorded in the first track.

Note that the de lete operation cannot be undone. Check to make sure you really do not need the data in digit al piano memory befor e you perform the following steps.

E-24 Connecting to a Computer You can connect the Digital Piano to a computer and exchange MIDI data between them. You can se nd play data from the Digital Piano to music software running on your computer, or you can send MIDI data from your computer to the Digital Piano for playback.

The letters MIDI stand for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, which is the name of a worldwide standard for digital signals and connectors that makes it possible to exchange musical data between musical instruments and computers (machines) produced by different manufact urers.
E-26 Connecting to a Computer 4. Double-click “PIANO”. • “PIANO” contains folder s named MUSICLIB and RECORDER. Use MUSICLIB to load a song into the piano’s user song memory (Music Library 6 1), and RECORDER to transfer Recorder memory data to and from your computer.
