5 Safety Pr ecautions Please read and take note of the following pr ecautions before using the equipment. 6 General Handling Pr ecautions W ARNING • Do not take apart or modify the equipment. Fire or electrical shock may result from improper handling of its components.
7 Setup and Operating Conditions • Please use in an area wher e the following temperature and humidity conditions can be met. Surrounding temperatur e: 5 degrees - 35 degr ees C (41 degr ees - 95 degrees F) Surrounding humidity: 10% - 90% RH (without condensation) • Make certain there is plenty of clear space ar ound the scanner .
8 Befor e T ransporting the Scanner Always lock the scanning unit by pushing the lock switch towar d the lock mark before moving or transporting the scanner . 1. Disconnect the USB cable fr om the computer . 2. Confirm the position of the scanning unit.

11 ScanGear CS-U ScanGear CS-U is the specialized driver software that allows you to scan and load images fr om the scanner . It cannot be used as a stand-alone program. And must be started within an application program. Simple Mode All you need to do is selecting the Image T ype to scan immediately at the optimal settings.

17 ScanSoft OmniPage ScanSoft OmniPage Pro (Windows) / SE (Macintosh) is an optical character recognition (OCR) pr ogram that converts characters scanned from a book, magazine or newspaper into text data for editing or digital transmission. After conversion, the text can be edited with wor d processors and similar programs.
