1-1 CHAPTER 1 Using the Remote UI This chapter describes the fe atures of the Remote UI , and how to start it. Overview of the Remote UI The Remote UI (User Interface) soft ware allows yo u to access and manage a machine connected to a network using a web bro wser .
1-2 Using the Remote UI 1 ■ Checking the [Device Status] from a netw ork computer The Remote U I enables you to a ccess the machine vi a a networ k, enabling you to display the current st atus for the machine, and the status of al l information a nd job processing.
1-3 Using the Remote UI 1 ■ Set and control the machine from a PC The Remote UI enables y ou to view and delete print jobs th at are being processe d by the machine or waiting to be printed, and chan ge various settin gs.
1-4 Using the Remote UI 1 Bef ore Y ou Star t the Remote UI Bef ore you start the Remote UI, chec k the f ollowing: ■ Network Settings Select <VIEW IP ADDRESS > from the <NETWORK S ETTINGS> menu, and v erify the IP address of th e machine.
1-5 Using the Remote UI 1 NO TE • If the page is not shown corre ctly , select [Internet Options] from the [T ool s] menu on the brow ser menu. Click [Settings] in the [Ge neral] tab ➞ click [Ev ery visit to the page] in the [Settings] dialog bo x.

2-2 Remote UI Functions 2 [Fea tures]: Displa ys information ab out various f eatures and e xpansion options f or the machine, incl uding the maximum p rint speed, total and av ailabl e memory , Flash ROM (if installed), and number of cassettes installed.
2-3 Remote UI Functions 2 Managing Jobs and Viewing the Job Log The Remote UI enab les you to manage print jobs. It also allows you to vie w the sending and re ceiving results of fax jobs .
2-4 Remote UI Functions 2 2 T o delete a print job, select the [ ] checkbo x to the left of the job to delete ➞ click . The selected job is deleted. NO TE Y ou cannot recover the job once it is deleted.
2-5 Remote UI Functions 2 Viewin g the Activity L og The Remote UI enables y ou to view the [Activity Log] of f ax jobs. The [Activity Log] sho ws the recent facsimile tr ansactions of up to 25 jobs. 1 Click [Job Manager] ➞ [Act ivity Log] from the menu th at appears under [Job Manager].
2-6 Remote UI Functions 2 Viewing and Editing Device Settin gs The Remote UI can be used to vie w and edit some of the settings for the machine. NO TE Y ou can edit the [Device Settings] only when you are using the [Administrator Mode]. 1 Click [Device Settings] ➞ select the item to display from the menu that appears under [Device Settings].
2-7 Remote UI Functions 2 3 Set each of the item s as necessa ry ➞ clic k [OK]. Fo r exampl e, if you w ant to change th e paper size f or the pape r cassette, sele ct the desired pape r size from [P aper Size] f or <Cassette> i n <Pap er Selection> ➞ click [OK].
2-8 Remote UI Functions 2 1 Click [Addres s Book] ➞ select [One-touch Speed Dial] or [Coded Dial] that appear s unde r [Address Book]. A list of one- touch or c oded speed dia ling numbers ap pears.
2-9 Remote UI Functions 2 2 T o delete a one-t ouch or coded speed dialing n umber , select the [ ] chec kbox to the right of the number to delete ➞ click .
2-10 Remote UI Functions 2 3 T o view the inf ormation registered for one-touch or coded speed dialing numbers, c lick the nu mber or the name. If you want to add an address for [On e-touch Speed Dial ] or [Coded Dial], click any n umber fo r which [None] is displa yed as the name.
2-11 Remote UI Functions 2 4 T o edit the information, clic k [Edit...]. 5 T o store the values you entered, c lick [OK] . T o cancel editing, clic k [Cancel]. The display ret ur ns to the pre vious page. When you click [OK], the values will be stored and the disp lay will return to the [One-touch Speed Dial] or [Coded Dial] screen.
2-12 Remote UI Functions 2 ● T o specify group dialing: ❑ Select [Group] from [T ype] ➞ enter a group nam e in [Group Nam e] ➞ click [Address Book.
2-13 Remote UI Functions 2 ❑ Make su re that the register ed destinations ar e display ed in the [Member s List] ➞ click [OK]. T o cancel editing, clic k [Cancel]. The display ret ur ns to the pre vious page. When you click [OK], the values will be stored and the disp lay will return to the [One-touch Speed Dial] or [Coded Dial] screen.
2-14 Remote UI Functions 2 1 Click [Addres s Book] ➞ select [Import/Export]. The [Import/Export] screen appears. NO TE • Y ou can impor t/export address book data only when you are using the [Administrator Mode].
2-15 Remote UI Functions 2 ■ Importin g the Address Book Data By clicki ng [Impor t...] in the [Import/Export] screen, you can import the address book data from a file . 1 Clic k [Import...]. 2 Click [Br owse...] to select an ad dress book data file to be impor ted to the mac hine ➞ clic k [Open].
2-16 Remote UI Functions 2 3 Click [OK] to import the file to the [Address Book]. If you wan t to cancel impor ting data, clic k [C ancel] to return to the [Import/Expor t] screen. [Importing address inf ormation] will be displ ayed during the transf er .
2-17 Remote UI Functions 2 ■ Exporting th e Address Book Data By pressing [Export...] in the [Impor t/Export] sc reen, you can e xport the address book data from the machine and sa ve it as a file.
2-18 Remote UI Functions 2 2 T o download the file, clic k [Save]. If you want to cancel do wnload, click [Cancel]. 3 Enter the name of the file..
