S et-Up Instruc tions S et-Up Instruc tions T hank you f or purchasing the Canon F AXPHONE L80. To get your machine ready f or use , please follo w the instruc tions in this document before re fe rring to any other documentation. Unpack the machine and its componen ts.
Remov e the shipping ma terials from the machine . 1 Place the machine on a flat sur face. 2 Remov e all shipping tapes from the ex te rior of the machine . 3 Ge ntly open the operation panel ➊ (it only opens partially) and remov e the protective sheet ➋ from the ADF .
L oad paper . 1 Inser t a stack of paper into the multi-purpose tra y ➊ (print side facing you and top edge first), then adjust the paper width guides t o the width of the paper ➋ . 2 A ttach the multi-purpose tra y cov er to prevent dust accumulating inside the machine .
C onnec t the handset and telephone line cor d . C onnec t the pow er cor d . W hen the power c ord is plugged into the machine and into the wall outlet, the machine is turned on. T he L CD displa ys PLEASE W AIT , then PUT IN CARTRIDGE. The L CD returns to the standby displa y when y ou install the FX-3 S Cartridge.
Install the FX-3 S Cartridge. 1 Lift the latch and open the front cov er . 2 Remov e the FX-3 S Car tridge from its protective bag . 3 Ge ntly rock the cartridge from side to side a few times t o distribute the toner evenly inside it. •P rint quality may be poor if the toner is unequally distributed .
Set the fax rec eive mode . 1 Pr ess F unc tion ➊ . 2 Pr ess Receiv e Mode ➋ . 3 Pr ess or ➌ until the mode you want appears in the L CD: ex. Y ou can select from the following: F ax/T el Mode: W hen the handset or the extension telephone is connected to the machine, the machine automatically switches between fax es and voice calls .
Install the Prin ter Driver . ( Window s 98/Me/2000/XP) IMPORT ANT • DO NO T connect the USB cable before installing the software. NO TE •W hen installing the sof tware in Windows XP or Windo ws 2000, log onto the system as a member of the Administrat or group.
6 W hen the system displa ys messages indicating that the driver for y our printer is being installed , proceed as f ollows: Fo r Windows 98/Me: Wa it for the system to complete the installation of the printer driv er .
