24 Prepa rati ons To attach an optio nal wrist strap Attach the wrist strap to the rear bracket on the camcorder , adjust the length and fasten. Y ou can also attach the wrist strap to the strap mount on the grip belt to use both for extra co nvenience and pr otection.

26 Prepa rati ons LCD Backlight When recor ding in bright places it may be dif ficult to use the LCD screen. T urn on the LCD back light to make it brighter . With the camcorder on, hold h press ed down for mor e than 2 second s. Repeat thi s action to sw itch the LCD backlig ht bet ween off (norm al) an d on (bright).
Prepa rat ions 27 Using the Viewfinder If it is difficult to use the LCD screen even after turning on the LCD backlight, y ou can use the viewfinder . Y ou can also use the viewfinde r when you rotate the LCD panel 180 degr ees to let the subject watch the reco rdin g.
28 Prepa rati ons Basic Operatio n of the Camcorder Using the T ouch Screen The contro l buttons and menu items that appear on th e touch screen change dynami cally dependi ng on the operat ing mode and the task you are performing. With the intuitive touch screen interface you have all the contr ols at your fingert ips.

AUT O Mode 47 Zoomin g There are t hree w ays you can zoom in and out: usi ng the zoom lever on the cam corder , using the zoom butt ons on the wi rele ss contro ller or using the zoom controls on the touch screen. In addition to the 10x optical zoom, in mod e, you can turn on the digital zoom (40x or 200x ) with the 7 8 [Digital Zoom] setting.

92 Video Manually Set ting the Shu tter Spee d or Aperturs e [ A Pr ogrammed AE] is th e default automatic expos ure ( AE) recor d ing program; using it, you c an change f unctions like the white balance or image ef fects. Select o ne of the other AE r ecor ding pr ograms t o control the shutte r speed or apertu re.

94 Video Manual Exposure Adjustment At times, bac klit subjec ts may appear too dark (under exposed) or sub- jects under ve ry strong ligh ts may a ppear too bright or glaring (overex- posed).
