Preparations 31 To attach the wrist strap Pass the attaching end of the wrist strap through the back bracket on the camcor der , thread the wri st stra p through the loop and fasten. Y ou can also attach the wrist strap to the strap mount on the grip belt to use both for extra conveni ence and pr otection.

40 Preparations Changing the Language The default language of the camcorder is English. Y ou can set it to one of 22 other languages. Preparations 41 Using a Memor y Card Memory Cards Compatible for Use with the Camcorder Y ou can use comm ercially available SDHC (SD high c apacity) memory cards and S D memory ca rds with this camcorder . How- ever , depending on its Speed Class, you may not be able to record movies o n the memory card .

The large thumbnail will show the first frame of the scene. Below it, the timeline ruler shows frames taken from the scene at fixed intervals.

Video 63 - Autofocus may not work as well as in othe r modes. In such case, adjust the focus manually . • [ Fireworks]: - T o avoid camcorder blur (blur due to the camcorder moving) we recommend using a tr ipod. - In mode, slower shutter speeds are used so blur is more likely to occur .
64 Video Changing the Shutter Speed and Aperture Select the [ Progra mmed AE] r ecor ding program to use f unctions like the white balance or imag e effe cts. Select one of the othe r automatic exposure r ecording prog rams to contr ol the shutter speed o r apertur e.

66 Video Cinema Mode: Giving a Cinemati c Look to your Recor dings Give your recor dings a cinematic look by using the [ Cine Mode] recor ding program. Combine th is rec ord in g p rog ra m w i th the 24 fps progr essive frame rate [ PF24] to ge t the enhanced effect of the 24p Cinema Mode.

Video 75 Face Detec tion Y ou can have the camcor der automatically detect people’ s faces and use this information to adjust the focus and set the best expo sure fo r beautiful videos and photos. W hen there ar e a number of people in the picture, one person (with the white face frame) will be deter mined to be the main subject.
76 Video • Face detection cannot be used when the shutter sp eed used is slower than 1/30 (1/24 if the frame rate is set to [ PF24]) or when the digital zoom is activated at mo re than 60x zoom (dark blue area on the zoom bar).

Video 87 Playlist and Scene Operations Dividing Scenes Y ou can divide scenes (or iginal scenes only) in order to leave out the best parts and later cut out the rest. 1 Open the original movies ind ex screen. Y ou can select the original movies in the built-in memory or on the memory card ( 52).

102 Photos Using the VFL-2 Vi deo Flash Li ght Y ou can use the optional VFL-2 Video Light Flash as an external flash when its POWER switch i s set to ON. The procedur e for setting the external flash is the same as for the built-in flas h. Attach the optional VFL-2 Video Flash Light to the mi ni advanced shoe.
Photos 103 • We r ecommend not using the flash while the optional W ide-converter or T ele-converter is attached; its sh adow can appear on the screen.
