1 - 7 Note: This error messag e means the same as service err or cod es ##338 and ##340 . When this error o ccur s in this model, it is not treated as a service error , but as a user error , and the error message is dis played. “Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) is open.
1 - 8 “Error during scanning memory card. Pull th e card and tur n the machine off and on.” Cause: Data in the memory card cannot be acc essed. Solution: Check the data in the memory card from a digital camera. Check the connection b e tween the multi-card board and the SPCNT board.

1 - 10 ##355 Lit-up motor for CD-R print malfunctioned Cause: In performing a CD-R print, the motor to lift up the carriag e shaft is malfunctioned. Solution:(1) Tu rn off and then on the power. (2) Check the connection from the SHEET F EED unit to the SPCNT board ass’y (JPM1).
1 - 1 1 ##362 Mot or driver malfunct ioned error Cause: The motor driver is malfunctioned due to heating, etc. Solution: (1) T o reboot, press [OK] bu tton or turn off and then on the power .
1 - 12 Symptom Solution Remarks The paper is not feed properly. (The Paper feed motor does not run.) 1) Check the connection from the sheet feed unit to the SPCNT board assy (JPM1). (2) Replace the sheet feed unit. (3) Replace the SPCNT board ass’y.
1 - 13 Symptom Solution Remarks • The printer does not at all. • Printing stops midway. • Certain colors are not printed. (1) Remove the printhead and re-install it. (2) Carry out nozzle cleaning on the printhead five times with the cleaning operation, than visually cheek the test print for non-discharge of ink from nozzle .

1 - 22 3-3 Adjustment / Settings 3-3-1 P APER FEED MOTOR Adjustment Perform the following a djustments when the paper feed motor unit is replaced: 1) When attaching the m otor, fasten the screws so that the belt is properly stretched (in the direction in dicated by the blue arrow in the f igure below).

SERVICE SWITCHES 3-5-1 Hardware Switches There is no service hardware switch on the Circuit board. 3-5-2 Service Data Setting Service data can be checked and changed with items on display menus. The effective SSSWs/ parameters and their default va lues in this m achine are shown in Service menu in this chapter.

1 - 63 3-6-4 Operation Panel Tests If you select test menu in the FACTORY mode, [1] PANE L is displayed. To select the test menu, press the OK button. In this test, check th at the display, LED lamps, and keys on the control panel are operating correctly.

1 - 69 4. Cleaning Your Machine This section de scribes the necessary cl eaning procedures fo r your machine. 4-1 CAUTION • Be sure to turn OFF the power and disconnect the power cord before cleaning the machine. • If you turn OFF the machine, all the documents stored in memory are deleted.

1 - 71 4-6 Cleaning The Bottom Plate Follow this procedure: 1. Power on then connect the powe r cord. 2. Remove a ny paper from the A uto Sheet Feeder. 3. Prepare a s heet of A4 or Lette r size plain paper. Fold it in half along the l ong edge. Unfold the pape r, then load it in the paper support with the outside edg e of the fold facing down.
1 - 72 5. TRANSPOR T A TION This section describes the procedures for transpor ting the printer for returning after repair, etc. (1) Keep the print head and ink tank s in stalled in the carriage. [See NOTE (1) on the next page.] (2) Turn off the printer to securely lock the carriage in the home position.
1 - 73 Caution: (1) If the pri nt head is remove d from the prin ter and left alone by itself, ink (especial ly the pigment blac k ink) is likely to dry.

2 - 1 1. NEW TECHNOLOGIES (1) Dye black ink adoption In addition to the pigment black ink, dye black ink is adop ted in this machine, so that special p aper can be printed i n black ink.
