ENG-1 Thank y ou f or purc hasing a Canon USM lens. The Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens is a high-performance standar d zoom lens developed f or EOS cameras. It is equipped with an Image Stabilizer , and cover s a wide range of focal lengths from wide angle to mid-telephoto.

ENG-4 See your camera’ s instructions for details on mounting and detaching the lens. ¡ After detaching the lens, place the lens with the rear end up to prev ent the lens surface and electrical contacts from getting scratched. ¡ If the contacts get soiled, scratched, or hav e fingerpr ints on them, corrosion or f aulty connections can result.
ENG-5 3. Setting the Focus Mode 4. Zooming After autofocusing in ONE SHO T AF mode, f ocus manually by pressing the shutter b utton halfwa y and turning the focusing ring. (Full-time manual f ocus) To shoot in autofocus mode , set the focus mode s witch to AF .
ENG-6 5. Image Stabilizer Y ou can use the image stabilizer in AF or MF mode. The image stabilizer is particular ly effectiv e for hand-held shots in the follo wing conditions.
ENG-7 Image Stabilizer ¡ When you use a tripod, the Image Stabilizer should be turned off to sav e battery power . ¡ The stabilizer is equally eff ective f or hand- held photograph y and photograph y with a monopod. ¡ The image stabilizer function also operates when the lens is used with an Extension T ube EF12 ll or EF25 ll.
ENG-8 6. Infinity Distance Mark To compensate for shifting of the infinity f ocus point that results from changes in temperature. The infinity position at normal temperature is the point at which the vertical line of the L mar k is aligned with the distance indicator on the distance scale.
ENG-9 The EW -83H hood can keep unwanted light out of the lens , and also protects the lens from rain, snow , and dust. To attach the hood, align the hood’ s attachment position mark with the red dot on the front of the lens, then turn the hood clockwise until the lens’ s red dot is aligned with the hood’ s stop position mark.
ENG-10 9. Filters (Sold separatel y) 10. Gelatin Filter Holder (Sold separately) Y ou can attach filter s to the filter mounting thread on the front of the lens. ¡ Only one filter may be attached. ¡ If you need a polarizing filter , use Canon’ s PL-C 77mm ll polarizing filter.
