The Canon EF100mm f/2.8L MA CRO IS USM lens is a macro lens dedicated to Canon EOS cameras. It is equipped with an Image Stabilizer and can shoot close-ups up to 1:1 as well as normal shots. • "IS" stands for Image Stabiliz er . • "USM" stands for Ultr asonic Motor .

ENG-5 To shoot in autof ocus (AF) mode, set the f ocus mode switch to AF . To use only man ual focusing (MF), set the f ocus mode switch to MF , and f ocus by turning the f ocusing ring. The f ocusing ring always w orks, regardless of the focus mode .
ENG-6 4. Infinity Compensation Mark Infinity compensation mark Distance index To compensate f or shifting of the infinity f ocus point that results from changes in temperature. The infinity position at normal temperature is the point at which the vertical line of the L mar k is aligned with the distance indicator on the distance scale.

ENG-8 6. Picture T aking Normal Photography The lens can be used as a medium-telephoto lens for normal photograph y such as portraits. Closeup Photography Close-up photos up to 1x (life-siz e) magnification are possible . The minimum focusing distance of 30 cm is the distance from the subject to the f ocal plane .
ENG-9 7. About Exposure Setting the Exposure When taking photographs using TTL meter ing, no exposure compensation is necessary to meter the light coming through the lens.
ENG-10 8. Image Stabilizer Y ou can use the image stabilizer in AF or MF mode. This function provides optimal image stabilization depending on shooting conditions (such as shooting still subjects and follo wing shots). The image stabilizer in this lens is effectiv e f or hand-held shots under the follo wing conditions.
ENG-11 Image Stabilizer • The shor ter the subject distance from the camera, the lesser the Image Stabilizer eff ect will be. • The Image Stabilizer cannot compensate f or a b lurred shot caused b y a subject that moved. • Set the ST ABILIZER switch to when you are taking pictures using the Bulb setting (long e xposures).

Y ou can loosen the or ientation lock-knob on the tripod mount to allow it to rotate as needed to fit a par ticular camera model f or switching betw een vertical and hor izontal positions.

Install the Macro Lite Adapter 67 (sold separately) on the filter mounting thread on the front of the lens for macro flash photog raph y .
