5 How to Select a DVD Disc Ther e are m any types of D VD discs but this camcor der uses only the following thr ee types of 8 cm mini DVD discs: DVD-R, DVD-R DL and DVD-RW . Read the diff erences between them and select the disc that best fits your needs.

32 • Video Quick Start Function When you cl ose the LCD panel wi th the camcor der set t o a recor ding mode , the camcorder enters the stand by mode. In standby mo de the camcor der consumes only abo ut half the power used w hen re cording, saving ener gy when y ou are using a bat tery pack.

Video • 45 Editing the Playlist and Disc Operations Creating a Play list Create a p laylist to play back only the scenes you pr efer and in the order of your choice. Deletin g, dividing or moving scenes in the p laylist will not affe ct the original r ecor dings.
46 • Video Dividing Scenes in the Playlist Y ou can divide scenes (in the play list only) in or der to leav e only the best par ts and later cut out the r est. Remember that w hen you divi de scenes in the playlist, you do not affect your original reco rd in g s.

48 • Video Finalizing the Disc T o play the disc you r ecor ded on a DVD player , a comput er’ s DVD dr ive or other digital dev ice, you need t o fina lize i t first . 1 Power th e camcor der using the compa ct power ad apter or a fully charged ba ttery pa ck.
Video • 49 Disc Playback on Extern al Devices After finalizing the disc, you can play it on DVD players compatible with the type of disc used (DVD-R, DVD-R DL or DVD-R W). Y ou cannot play back di scs on an external DVD device if the discs have not yet been finalized.
