6-2 Maintenance Cleaning the Ex terior Clean the exterior of the machine and ventilation slots. 1 T urn OFF the power switch and disconnect the power c ord. 2 Clean the exterior of the machine with a soft, well wrung out cloth dampened with water or mild detergent diluted with water .
6-3 Maintenance 6 Remove the t oner car tridge. 7 Remove an y toner or paper debris from int erior of the machine, with a clean, soft, dry , and lint-free cloth.
6-4 Maintenance Cleaning the Platen Glass Follo w this procedure to clean the plat en glass and under sur face of the feeder . 1 T urn OFF the power switch and disconnect the power c ord. 2 Open the feeder . 3 Clean the platen glass and the under surface of the feeder .
6-5 Maintenance IMPORT ANT Do not touch the transfer roller ( A). T ouching the transfer roller (A) ma y damage the machine. (A) NO TE If there is data waiting to be printed The data is deleted when you turn OFF the power switch.
6-6 Maintenance T oner car tridges are consumable products. When the toner has almost or completely run out in the middle of operating this machine, a message appears in the display , or the symptoms described below appears. F ollow a proper resolution depending on the message or symptom.
6-7 Maintenance IMPORT ANT Handling toner car tridge • Keep the toner car tridge away from computer screens , disk drives, and floppy disks. They may be damaged by magnet which is in inside of the toner cartridge. • Avoid locations subject to high temperature, high humidity , or rapid changes in temperature.
6-8 Maintenance 5 Press [ ] or [ ] to select <O ff> or <On>, and then press [ OK]. Copy Off On <Off> Do not use the toner saver mode.
6-9 Maintenance 6 Gently shake the toner cartridge five or six times to evenly distribut e the toner . 7 Inser t the toner cartridge. Fit the protrusions (A) on each side of the toner cartridge into t.
6-10 Maintenance 3 Hold the grip on the left front side of the toner cover . 4 Open the toner cov er . 5 Remove the t oner car tridge. 6 T ake out the new toner cartridge from the protective bag . You can open the pr otective bag with your hands from the notch.
6-11 Maintenance 10 Close the toner cov er . If you cannot close the toner cov er Ensure that the toner car tridge is properly set in the machine. D o not try to forcefully close the toner cover , as this may damage the machine. 11 Low er the scanning platform.
6-12 Maintenance When pulling out the sealing tape • Do not pull the sealing tape diagonally or sideways. If the tape breaks, this may become difficult t o pull out completely . • Even if the sealing tape stops at midpoint, pull it out of the toner cartr idge completely .

6-15 Maintenance CANADA PROGRAM- CANADA PROGRAMME ● Option A: Single Box Return • Repackage the empt y cartridge utilizing the wrapper and pulp mould end-blocks from the new car tridge’ s box. • Place the empty car tridge in the box of your new cartridge.
6-16 Maintenance Before transporting the machine, see “Precautions when T ransporting the M achine ” ( → P .6-17) When changing the location of the machine or moving the machine for maintenance , be sure to perform the following procedure . 1 T urn OFF the machine and any connected computer .
