TRA CER Monitor ed Protection Switch (MPS) Before you begin... Required Components • (2) TRACER Baseband Proc essor (BBP) and RF Conver ter (RFC) rackmount units Or , • (2) TRACER 4103 or 42.
1 Rackmount the Unit s Install the TRACER MPS system in a location that requi res minimal antenna feedline length (the loss in this cable directly af fe cts overall system performance). The TRACER M PS should be mounted in a rack between the tw o BBP component s of the TRACER systems (see Figure 1 on page 2) .
2 Creating the VT100 Chain A single VT100 connec tion through the TRACER MPS provides access to bo th the primary (MAIN) and SECONDARY TRACER units. Follow the steps below to create the VT100 chain.

6b Connecting the Antenna Interface s (TRACER 4103 and 4203 Systems) 1. Connect the Antenna interface (N-T ype connector) of the MA IN TRACER 4103/4203 (label ed 1 below) to the MA IN RF interface (SMA connector) of the TRACER MPS (labeled 2 below) using a male N-T ype to male SMA cable.
7 Connecting the Alarm Cont act s 1. Connect the NO (Norma lly Open) alarm contact of the MAIN TRACER BBP (labeled 1 belo w) to the MN alarm c ontact in the IN alarm block of the TRACER MPS (l abeled 2 below). The TRACER BBP provides two sets of alarm contact s; for no rmal configuration, use the NO located in the MAJ (Major Alarm) block.
8 Supplying Power to the Unit The TRACER MPS can operate from a supply between 21 and 63 V olts DC, with either polarity referenced to ground, and consumes 3 W atts nominal, 20 W a tts peak (during relay switching). Curr ent required (in Amp s) is determined by dividi ng the power consume d (in W att s) by the applied voltage (in V olts).
