9 D V30 ENGLISH SCART RGB Use a SCART/Perit el cable to connect to the 2 1-pin SCART input jack of a TV . SCART carries both audio (stereo) and video (as either Composit e or RGB) at the same time. With SCART RGB enabled, R GB and composite signals are output simultaneously via the SCART socket.
10 F ront panel controls DV30 Standby / On 1 Standby/On Switches the unit between Standby mode (indicat ed by dim pow er LED) and On (indicated by bright pow er LED). Standby is a low po wer mode where the power consum ption is less than 10 W atts. The unit may be left in Standby mode when not in use.

12 Remote control The DV30 is supplied with a Na vigator remot e control which operates this unit. In addition it can also operate a matching AR30 or DR30 2. 1 receiver and their supplied docking station for iP od, and/or a CD30 CD player . Always use alk aline batteries.

15 D V30 ENGLISH HDMI connections HDMI (High-Definition Multi-Media Interface) is a digital connection that can carr y both audio and video in one cable. Direct digital transfer of video and support for various types of High Definition video content make this the best connection type f or picture quality .
16 Audio connections Analogue stereo (with or without subwoof er) The Sonata DV30 is capable of pla ying Dolby Digital or LPCM soundtracks itself and outputting these as analogue 2. 1. T o connect to a st ereo receiver (such as the matching AR30 or DR30) or amplified speaker syst em, use stereo phono/RCA cables as shown.
17 D V30 ENGLISH Surround-sound formats Via its analogue outputs, the DV30 can pla y back CDs and DVDs in st ereo or 2.1 output when they ha ve been encoded with Dolby Digital (5. 1), Dolby Digital EX (6. 1), Pr oLogic II or IIx, or LPCM soundtracks. In all cases, the DV30 will decode the soundtrack and output it as 2.
18 DVDs are encoded using the MPEG 2 lossy video f ormat giving over tw o hours of high- quality digital video on single lay er discs or over f our hours on dual-lay er discs. Note : Dual lay er discs always e xhibit a small pause or delay in pla yback when the lay er transition is made.
19 D V30 ENGLISH Running along the top of the screen are icons that represent the f our main menu sections: Video Setup Audio Setup Dolby Digital Setup Preference Setup * * Note: T o ent er the Preferences menu, the unit must first be in Stop mode. Press Setup to ent er the menu system.
T V Display Select the screen format t o fit your TV screen. 4:3 PanScan — Y ou can select this screen when connect ed to a normal TV set. The widescreen picture will display on the full screen, but some parts of the video picture will be cut of f automatically .
21 D V30 ENGLISH SCART/Component Note: HDMI output must be set to ‘Off’ for this menu t o be accessible. Select between the follo wing choices: Component-p – Enables progressive scan com ponent (YPbPr) using the 3 phono/RCA component outputs on the rear panel.
22 Important Note Some TVs may have occasional pr oblems re-acquiring an HDMI signal (no picture or incorrect colour balance appears) when an HDMI setting is changed on the DVD play er .
23 D V30 ENGLISH With the Audio setup menu selected, use the and arr ows to mo ve to the desired sub-menu. Use the navigation arr ows ( ) to adjust the settings and press the Enter butt on to confirm your selection.
24 HDMI Audio T w o options are available: PCM St ereo and Follow SPDIF . When HDMI Audio is set to ‘PCM St ereo’, the HDMI output will always be 1 6/44. 1 for CDs and 2 4/48 stereo or stereo do wnmix for D VD. When the DV30 is connect ed directly to a TV set which can receive stereo audio ov er HDMI, PCM Stereo is the best setting to use.
25 D V30 ENGLISH Preference menu The Preference menus are used t o set the default language tracks the DV30 will use for Soundtrack, Subtitles and Disc Menu (if the y are available on the disc). Where possible, the DV30 will aut omatically select the appropriate language fr om those available on the disc.
26 Audio Use this to set the default language of the sound output fr om the speakers. Subtitle Use this to set the default language of the subtitles displa yed on the TV. Disc Menu Use this to set the default language of the menus in the disc t op menu.
27 D V30 ENGLISH Note: • Do not put anything ex cept a DVD or CD-sized disc into the tra y; foreign objects ma y damage the mechanism. • Do not for ce the tray b y hand during the opening and closing operations. • T o a void dirt and dust entering the mechanism, keep the disc tra y closed when not in use.
28 DivX VOD registration T o enable DivX Video On Demand pla yback for the D V30, you hav e to first register the device (D V30) through the DivX Play er Programme on your PC.
