15 azur DacMagic Plus ENGLISH Digital outputs The digital outputs allow a digital recording device to be connected. These outputs loop or pass- through unprocessed digital audio fr om the selected digital input.
16 USB in A USB B type socket is tted to the DacMagic Plus to enable the playback of audio from a personal computer running either Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS X operating systems. Some builds of Linux are also suitable. Note: Alwa ys use a certied cable f or USB Audio, preferably one that displays an ofcial mark.
17 azur DacMagic Plus ENGLISH F ront panel controls Pow er on/of f Switches the unit between on and off. Source Press to select between USB, External (Ext.) or Digital Inputs 1 and 2. The corresponding LED will light up to show which sour ce has been selected.
18 Filter/Phase select Momentarily press to select between three different lter modes: linear phase, minimum phase or steep, see later section f or details.
19 azur DacMagic Plus ENGLISH Use either the unbalanced (RCA/Phono) or balanced (XLR) outputs of the DacMagic Plus. The XLR output is slightly better in quality as it can reject interference and noise in the cable connection and is the preferred option if your amplier features balanced XLR inputs.
20 Connect your digital source to Digital Input 1 or 2. Either S/P DIF co-axial or TOSLINK optical types can be used, each being of equal quality . Important Note: Only connect one co-axial OR optical cable to each digital input. The unit will no t operate if both connections are made (ev en if only one is active).

22 Advanced USB audio The DacMagic Plus is both USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed) and USB 1. 1 (Full-speed) USB port compatible. It will also work with the new USB 3.
23 azur DacMagic Plus ENGLISH Use with PCs With the DacMagic Plus switched to USB Audio 1.0 (this is the default setting) the DacMagic Plus will w ork with the native Windows XP , Vista or 7 A udio 1.0 driver (no need to load any new driver) and accept audio up to 2 4-bit/96kHz.
24 Bit perfect transfer – ASIO and W ASAPI Exclusive mode The DacMagic Plus USB interface hardware and software support bit per fect transf er . Whether or not the audio sent to the DacMagic Plus is bitperfect (i.e. not resam pled or mixed etc. by the PC) is actually a function of the pla yback application and the operating systems audio engine.

26 When connected t o your Dacmagic Plus this adapt or allows the DacMagic Plus to receiv e BluetoothA udio (known as Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Prole or A2DP). Contact your dealer for details. The BT100 supports Bluetooth A2DP using either the original SBC encoded f orm or the latest higher quality apt-X encoded f orm.

29 azur DacMagic Plus ENGLISH D. On successful pairing, the BT100s LED goes of f for a second or two, then triple ashes quickly . The LED then goes off and only lights up in the future when you are playing audio via Bluet ooth. E. T o play back via a paired Bluetooth device, simply select the BT100 on that device and star t playing.
30 The DacMagic Plus can be sited in two different positions, as shown in the accompanying diagram. It can be placed horizontally by tting the four small individual fee t, or vertically by using the large rubber ‘foot’. Power on the DacMagic Plus using the On/Of f button on the front panel.
31 azur DacMagic Plus ENGLISH Filters The DacMagic Plus DSP has three different Filter functions: Linear Phase, Minimum Phase and Steep. All three lters are highly sophisticated audiophile topologies, optimised specically for audio playback.
32 The Linear Phase lter is a highly regar ded audio lter of f ering low ripple in both the pass and stop bands, and what is known as constant group dela y. Constant group delay means that audio signals of all frequencies are always dela yed by the same amount when passing through the lter .
