INTRODUCTION Congratulations on purchasing this Digital Radio Tuner from Cambridge Audio. It is the result of an extensive Research and Development program undertaken to identify the circuitry and components fundamental to our highly regarded and critically acclaimed products.

CONTROLS 4 1 2 3 7 6 8 54 DA B 50 0 FRONT PANEL CONTROLS 1. POWER SWITCH Press this button to turn the po wer on and press again t o turn the power off. 2. PRESET BUTTONS Use these buttons to st ore and recall fa vourit e stations. 3. SHIFT BUTTON Use this button to access presets six t o ten.
REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS 1. NCT (NATURAL CONTOUR TECHNOLOGY) Use this switch to select either a flat frequency response or one of tw o subtle tone settings; L O or LO/HI. 2 . TU NER I N PU T Connect the conv entional ‘left’ and ‘right’ (L and R) Audio Outputs of an existing tuner t o the ‘T uner Input’ using a high quality inter connect.
SETTING UP This section pro vides information on connecting y our DAB500 t o other hi-fi equipment and connecting an aerial. All components must be switched off when connecting the DAB500. CONNECTING TO AN AMPLIFIER The signal from y our DAB500 must be passed to an am plifier , which then feeds loudspeak ers to creat e sound.
7 USI NG YOUR DAB500 TURNING THE TUNER ON AND OFF Make sure all the rele vant connections, as described earlier ha ve been made. As a precaution, make sure the amplifier v olume is turned down low . Press the "Pow er" button on the fr ont panel.
THE "MENU" BUTTON Press the "Menu" button once to ent er menu mode. Use the tune/enter dial to scan thr ough the various menu options and push to select the assor tment of services.
IMPROVING YOUR RECEPTION If you experience no reception at all or the sound breaks up when list ening to some stations then there are a f ew things y ou can tr y to impr ov e reception.
