Pr ess the [F2] key once the Fujitsu logo appears on the screen. This will open the main menu of the BIOS Setup Utility with the current settings displayed.

43 User Installable Features Lithium Ion Battery Y our Fujitsu LifeBook notebook has a Lithium I on battery that provides power for operating your not ebook when no external pow er source is a vailable. The battery is durable and long lasting, but should not be exposed to extreme t emperatures, high voltages, chemicals or other hazards.
44 LifeBook S Series – Section Four Low Battery State When the batt er y is running low , your notebook will beep every 15 seconds and the Battery Level indicator will flash. If you do not respond t o the low battery alarm, the batteries will continue to discharge until they are too low t o operate.
45 User Installable Features W arm-swapping Batteries T o warm-swap batteries in your battery bay follow these easy steps: (Figure 4-1) 1. Close any open files. 2. Put y our notebook into suspend mode 3. U nlock the battery bay using the lock button.

Ho wever , you ma y encounter simple setup or operating problems that you can sol ve on the spot, or problems with per ipheral dev ices, that you can solv e by replacing the device.

(continued) The P ower adapt er (AC or auto/airline) has no power fr om the A C outlet, airplane seat jack, or the car’ s cigarette lighter . Mo ve the A C co rd to a different outlet, check for a line switch or tripped circuit breaker for the A C outlet.
74 LifeBook S Series – Section Five The batteries seem to discharge too quickly . Y ou are running an application that uses a great deal of power due to frequent har d drive access or D VD/CD-ROM access, use of a modem card or a LAN PC card.

97 Glossary Glossary AC Adapter A device which con verts the A C voltage from a wall outlet to the DC voltage needed to po wer your not ebook. Active-Matrix Display A ty pe of technology for making flat-panel displays which has a transistor or similar device for every pixel on the screen.
98 LifeBook S Series – Section Eight Disk A spinning platter of mag netic data storage media. If the platter is ve r y stiff it is a hard drive, if it is highly flexible it is a floppy disk, if it is a floppy disk in a hard housing with a shutter it is commonly called a disk ette.
99 Glossary LAN Local Ar ea Network. A n interconnection of computers and peripherals w ithin a single limited geogr aphic location which can pass programs and data amongst themselves. LCD Liquid Crystal Display . A type of display which mak es images by contr olling the orientation of cr ystals in a crystalline liquid.
