T eraStation Setup Manual 3 Chapter 1 Setup T eraNavigator Setup To congure your TeraStation, insert the TeraNavigator CD into a Windows computer on the network and follow the directions, or use the following procedure. Note: Use LAN P ort 1 for initial setup.

Hyphens and underscores may be used. Do not use a number or symbol as the rst letter of a shared f older name.
T eraStation Setup Manual 17 Recycle Bin Each shared folder on the TeraStation that is connected by SMB may have the recycle bin enabled or disabled from within the Web Admin. If enabled, deleted data from a shared folder will be temporarily moved to a [T rashbox] subfolder.
T eraStation Setup Manual 18 T echnical Restric tions • Window s does not support some charac ters that OS X and the T eraStation allow . So, if y ou create a lename on a Mac with an y of the following characters , it will not display correctly on a Windo ws computer .
T eraStation Setup Manual 19 • Do not set the same network address for LAN port1 and LAN port 2, or data transmission may be unstable. If this happens, initialize the T eraStation with the Reset Button. • If you wan t to access a dieren t network from the T er aStation, use LAN port 1.

Do not use a symbol as the rst character of a name. • User descriptions may contain up t o 50 alpha-numeric characters (25 characters for 2-byte characters).
