4 IMPOR T ANT F A CTS Y our furnace must hav e adequate airflo w for ef ficient combustion and safe ventilation. Do not enclose it in an airtight room or “seal” it behind solid doors.
5 CHECK AIR FILTERS: Before attempting to start your furnace, be sure the furnace air filters are clean and in place. See “Performing Rou- tine Maintenance” section in this manual. Then proceed as follo ws: STEPS F OR STAR TING Y OUR FURNACE 1. Open all warm air re gisters and make sure that all return-air grills are unobstructed.
6 2. T urn off all electrical po wer to the appliance. (See Fig. 9.) 9 3. Close the oil supply v alv e. (See Fig. 10). 10 4. If applicable, turn of f w ater sup- ply to humidifier . 5. If furnace blo wer will be neces- sary for cooling system, remem- ber to turn electric po wer back on when needed for air condi- tioning.
