30 CHAPTER 4 Setting up licenses Per s on al l ice n se s A personal license allows a single user to use FrameMak er. When you set up licensing, yo u must assign a user name to each personal license. A licensed use r can use FrameM aker from an y syst em on y our net work, but c an only star t th e produ ct on one sy stem at a ti me.

45 ADOBE FRAMEMAKER 8 Installation Guide env .sh and env .csh scripts The fmsetupfls progra m creates en v .sh and en v .csh scripts, or u pdates them if they already exist. These scripts set the values of the FM_FLS_HOS T and FM_FLS_A UTO licensing envir onmen t variables.
CHAPTER 4 46 Setting up licenses Not e: T he f m_ f lb licen se broad caste r i s des igne d to transmit inf orm ation f rom ea ch machine running FrameMaker to en sure that there are no duplicate licenses being u sed on the net work. All net work broadcasts commun icate with all I/ O por ts, which could activate dial -on-d emand connect ions.

CHAPTER 4 48 Setting up licenses • If fm_fls doesn ’t respo nd, the pr oduct runs the fm _fls_auto scrip t (the script named by FM_FLS_A UTO) to start the license ser ver process, and then con tinues with step 5. (I t can ’ t run fm_f ls_au to if FM_FLS_A UT O is not set.
