Chapter 1 How to Create Bobbin Work.
4 ABOUT BO BBIN WO RK You can create emb roidery, which giv es a three-dimensio nal appearance to the surface of the fabric , by winding the bobbin with heavy weight thread or ribbo n too thick to be fed throug h the sewing machine needl e and sewing on the wrong sid e of the fabric .
5 ENGLIS H PREPARING FO R BOBBIN WORK Required Materials ■ Bobbin case and bo bbin co ver a Bobbin case (gr ay) There is a notch at the location marked by “A”. b Bobbin cov er with tabs ( for bobbin work ) There are rib s “B” on the back of the bobbin cover .

7 ENGLIS H h Wind a decorat ive thread aroun d the bobbin by hand. Aft er windi ng the bobbin so it is filled as shown b elow (about 8 0%), cut the thread. For precaution s on winding the bobbin fo r embroidering, refer to step b of “Sel ecting the Pattern” on pa ge 13.
8 ■ When tensi on is not applied to the bobbin thre ad If the bobbin thread in the trial stitching is too tight and adjusting the bob bin case tension does not help, do not pass the threa d through the tension sprin g.

11 ENGLIS H j Turn the ha ndwheel toward yo u (countercloc kwise) to feed the needle into t he punched hole. Pos ition the upper threa d over the presser fo ot and lightl y hold then, lower the presser foot.
12 ■ Fini shing th e threa d ends a At the end of the stitching, pull the en d of the bobbin t hread up to the wrong side of the fabric. a Wrong side of fabric b Bobbin thr ead b From th e wrong side of the fabr ic, tie the bobbin t hread and the upp er thread toget her by hand, and then cut off excess thr eads with scis sors .

15 ENGLIS H d Press . → The sc reen ch anges, and all keys an d operat ion butto ns are lo cked. e Using the pres ser foot lever, raise th e presser foot. f To bring th e bobbin thread above the fa bric, rotate the handw heel counterclockwise while holding the u pper thread.
16 o Remove th e fabric from the e mbroidery frame, and check the finished embr oidery. p If the desired results could not b e achieved, adjust t he tension of the bobbin thr ead and of the upper thread, and th en try sewing the pattern again. For more d etails, refer to “ADJUSTING THE THREAD T ENSION” on p age 17.
17 ENGLIS H ADJUSTIN G THE THREA D TENSION After sewing trial stitches a nd checking t he sewing resu lts, adjust the thread tension s if necessary. After adjusting the tensions, be sure to sew tr ial stitches aga in in order to check the sew ing results.

21 ENGLIS H e When the fabri c appears as a backg round for the pattern, the pattern can be edited if it i s necessary. f Use to align th e pattern with t he desired emb roidery po sition. • The patter n can be moved to the desired posit ion by using your finger or the to uch pen to drag the pattern dis played on the screen.
22 ■ Positionin g the patt ern on thick fabric When positio ning the patte rn on thick fa bric such as quilting, the fabric may not be detected c orrectly. In order for the fabric to be co rrectly detecte d, its thickness mu st first be meas ured. a Hoop the fabr ic in the embroidery fr ame, and then attach the frame to the embroidery machine.
23 ENGLIS H CHANGING THE PATTERN SIZE WHILE MAINTAINI NG THE DESIRED THREAD D ENSITY (STITCH RECALCULATO R) In the embro idery edit scre en, the size of the pattern can be chan ged while the desired thread density is maintained. With this fu nction, the pa ttern will be e nlarged or reduced at a larger ratio th an with norma l pattern resizing.
