Insert the head h inges (1) into the m achine head so tha t they are paral lel, and then secur e them with the tw o set screws (2 ). 2. Place the m ac hine head gentl y on top of the r ubber c ushions (3) and cushions (4).

3. INST A LLA TION BAS-31 1F-0, 31 1F-L, 326F-0 12 6. Gentl y tilt back the mac hine head. Refer to “ 3-9. T ilting the se wing m achine head” . Note Be sure to have t wo or m ore people th ere when ti lting bac k the m achine head and retur ning it to its ori ginal position.
3. INST A LLA TION BAS-31 1F-0, 31 1F-L, 326F-0 13 13. Securel y connect conn ectors P1 to P7, P14, P18, P23 and P26 as ind icated in table belo w . Note Check that the connector is facing t he corr ect way , and then insert it f irm ly until it lock s into plac e.
3. INST A LLA TION BAS-31 1F-0, 31 1F-L, 326F-0 14 3-12. Installing the belt co v er 1. Loosen th e two sc rews (2) of the upper co ver (1) . 2. Insert the belt c over (3) in the direc tion of the ar row , and then secure it with the two s crews (2) and the t wo screws (4 ).

If the m achine is used without th ese devic es attached, inj ury m ay result. Install the e ye guar d ass y (1) to the f ace pl ate with th e t wo screws (2 ).

A d justing the sewing SPE E D cont r o l The s ewing speed ca n be change d in steps of 100 rpm to the appropri ate speeds f or each s titch length s etting. 1. Press the ME NU switch (6) until t he SPEED indic ator (9) illum inates.

Using the bobbin thread counter Set the bo bbin threa d counter to dis pla y the num ber of pieces of the selec ted pattern whic h can be se wn with the am ount of thread on th e bobbin to avoid run ning out of bobb in thread i n the middl e of a patern.
