3 CAUTION CAUTION When y ou move t he machine, g r a s p t he side ha ndholds that are under the scanner. DO NOT carry the machine by holding it at the bottom.
4 2 Ins t all t he d rum unit and toner car tridge asse m bl y a Remove t he protective t ap e and film covering the scanner glass. b Press the front cover release button and open th e fr ont cover a . c Unpack the drum un it and toner c artridge assembly.
5 3 Lo ad pa per i n the pap er tray a Pull the paper tray completely out of the machine. b While pressing the blue paper-guide release leve r a , slide the pap er g uides to fit the paper size you are loading in the tray. Make sure that the guides are firmly in the s lots.
6 4 Release t h e sc ann er lo ck Push the leve r a in the direction shown t o unlock the scann er. (The grey scanne r lock lever is located at the back left side, unde r the docume nt cover b .) 5 Connect the power co rd an d teleph one line a Make sure that the machine power switch is off.
7 6 Set yo ur country (fo r Austral ia/ New Z ealand custo m er only) You mus t set y our country so that the machi ne works correctly on local telecomm unication li ne s in each country. a Check that the power is turned on b y plugging in the p ower cord and turn t he power swi tch on.
8 7 Choose a Receive Mode There are four possible receive modes : Fax Only , Fax/Tel , Manual and External TAD . a Pre ss Men u . b Pre ss 0 . c Pre ss 1 .
