Recommended Piping for Po wer Failure Freeze Protection As long as electrical power a nd gas are su pplied to the EverHot water h eater, freeze protection is provided to the heat exchanger and pipi ng inside the wate r heater with ambient temperatures as col d as -30 F (-34 C), when protected from direct wi nd exposure.
PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE Keep clear of the pressure reli ef valve di scharge li ne outlet. The discharge may be hot enough to cause scald injury. The water is unde r pressure and may splash.
Combination Water and Space Heating Applications – Commercial Use Water Heaters Only Commercial use water h eaters may be used for space heatin g or combination space heating/potable water heating applications, provided the followin g requirements and re commended piping di agrams are carefully followed.
Note: in Massachusetts, the following must be done: Tempered potable water m ust meet temperatures in 248 CM R. All water piping must be insulated in accordance with 780 CMR (Massachu setts energy code). 50 feet maximum distance from water heater to space heating lo ad (developed length).
SECTION V: VENTING WARNING The venting system must be properly installed. F a ilure to properly install the vent system could result in property damage, personal injury, or death.
VENTING The venting instructions must be followed to avoid re stri cted combustion or recirculation of flue gases. Such conditions cause sooting or risks o f fire and asphyxiation.
Vent / Air Intake Terminal Locations Direct Vent Terminal Location Plan the vent system layout so that proper cl earances are maintai ned from plumbing and wiring. Before the vent is installed, determine the vent pipe termin at ion location as shown below in the Vent Termi nal Location illustration.
Vent pipes serving power vented appliances are clas sified by building cod es as “vent connectors.” Required c learanc es from comb ustible mater ials must be provided in accordance with information in this manual under Location of Wate r Heater and Clearan ces, as well as the National Fuel Gas Code an d local codes.

LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFO RE OPERATIN G WARNING: If you do not follo w these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life. A. This water heater does not have a pilot.
CAUTION In climates where below freezing tempe ratures may occur, the water h eater must be drained when power is off to the water heater to prev ent free ze damage to the heat exchanger. Drain sol enoids are recommended to prevent freeze damage during p ower failures in cold climate regions.
2. To set the de sired temperature on the control, all hot water faucets must be closed. If there are remote controls installed, press the “Priority” button on the cont rol you want to change the setting on and the “Priority” indicator light will glow.
SCALDING Figure 49. Scalding Warning. This water heater can deliver scalding temperature water at any faucet in the system. Be careful whenever using hot w ater to avoid scalding injury. Cer tain applianc es, such as dishwas hers and automatic clothes washers may require increased wate r temperature.
FIRST AID FOR SCALDS 1. Apply cold water to burned area for 30 minutes to re duce the heat in the skin a nd prevent deeper burning. Never use butter, oils, or ointm ent to cover the burn. They may retain the heat. 2. Use a blanket to keep the scalded perso n warm.
Code Code Description Remedy 12 Flame Failure Check that the gas is turned on at the water heater and gas meter. Check for obstructions in the flue outlet. Ensure gas line, meter, and/or regulator is sized pro perly. Ensure gas type and pressure is correct.
Code Code Description Remedy 72 Flame Sensing Device Fault Ensure flame rod is touching flame when unit fires. Check all wiring to flame rod for damage. Remove flame rod and check for carbon b uild-up; clean with sand paper. Check inside burner chamber for any foreign material blocking flame at fla me rod.
SECTION IX: MAINTENANCE WARNING Always turn off the electrical power supply, the manual ga s valve, and the manual wate r control valve whenever servicing this applian ce. KEEP THE WATER HEATER AREA CLEAR AND FREE FROM COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS, GASOLINE, AND OTHER FLAMMABLE VAPORS AND LIQUIDS.
CAUTION Before manually operating the valve, make su re t hat a drain line has been attached to the valve to direct the discharge to a n open drain. Failure to take this precaution could mean contact with extremely hot water passing out the valve during this checking operation.
