Liquefied petroleum gases/propane gas is heavier than air and will remain at floor level if there is a leak. Basements, crawl spaces, closets and ar eas below ground level will serve as pockets fo r accumulation of leaking gas. Before lighting, sm ell all around the appliance ar ea for gas.

9 SECTION III: GENERAL INFORMATION FEATURES The Bradford White EVERHOT ® IGI series tankl ess water heater is a high output, high efficiency appliance, which heat s the water conti nuously as hot water is being drawn for u se. Unlike tank type storage water heaters, this water heat er doe s not store hot water.
SECTION IV: INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS This water heater must b e located in an area where lea kage of the heat exchange r coil, water line connections, or the pressure relief valve will not result in damage to the area adjacent to the water heater or to lo wer floors of the st ructure.
WARNING • This water heater is suitable for potable w ater heating only. DO NOT use this water heater for space heating or combination space he ating/domestic water heating. • This water heater is not suitable for use in pool or spa application s.

SECTION V: WA TER CONNECTIONS WARNING Failure to install and maintain a new, li sted pressu re relief valve will release the man ufacturer from any claim, which might result from excessive temperature and pressures. Keep clear of the pressure relief valve discha rge line outlet.

Recommended Piping for Po wer Failure Freeze Protection As long as electrical power and gas are supplied to the EVERHOT ® water heater, free ze protection is provided to the heat exch anger and pi ping inside the wate r he ater with ambient temperatures as cold as -30 ° F (-34 ° C), when protected from direct wi nd exposure.

PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE – 19 Keep clear of the pressu re relief valve dischar ge line outlet. The discha rge may be hot enough to cause scald injury. The water is unde r pressure and m ay splash.
SECTION VI: VENTING WARNING The venting system must be properly installed. Failure to properly install the vent system coul d result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

22 Vent terminals must terminate at least 3 feet (0.9 m) above any forced air inlet locate d within 10 feet (3.1 m). This provision does not apply to: 1. The combustion air intake of a direct vent appliance or the circulating ai r inlet and flue gas discharge of listed outdoor applia nces.

VENTING SYSTEM INSTALLATION Reference the preceding section and venting compone nts illustrations at the end of this man ual to determine the parts required for your particul ar vent ing system installation. The required ventin g component parts are available from your Bradford White supplier.
Horizontal Direct Vent using standard vent kit componen ts: Fig. 5 For installations on interior walls, ven ting components may be purcha sed from your Bradford White supplier to extend the venting distan ce using extens ion tubes and elbows.
Horizontal Direct Vent using extensi on components for long er vent runs: Fig. 6 Vertical Direct Vent Installations The EVERHOT ® IGI series water heater can also be installed to vent vertically through the roof using a vertical discharge adaptor, optional vent extension tubes, a co ndensat e collector, a roof terminal, and a universal lead tile.

SECTION VII: GAS CONNECTIONS WARNING Connect this water heater only to the type of gas as sh own on the rating plate. Use clean black iron pipe or equivalent material app roved by local codes and ordin ances. (Dirt and scale from the pi pe can enter the gas valve and cause it to malfun ction).
GAS METER SIZE –NATURAL GAS ONLY Be sure that the gas meter has sufficient capacity to supply the full rated gas in put of the water heater as well as the requirements of all other gas fired equi pment supplied by the meter. If the gas meter is too small, ask the gas company to install a larger mete r h aving adequate capacity.
31 4. Turn power on (after completing electrical co nnections – refer to Section VIII, “Electrical Connections”) and fully open a hot water tap. 5. Measure the gas pressures to see that these are within the specified limits below: Supply Pressure: Nat.
SECTION VIII: ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS WARNING Turn off or disconnect the electrical power supply to the water heater before servicing. Label all wires prior to disconnection when servicing controls. Wirin g errors can cause improper an d dangerous operation.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLS The front panel temperature control allows the cust om er to set the hot water supply temperature and will display certain fault functions of t he water heater if there i s a malfunction.
Before installing the Bath Controls, determine the most conveni ent locations(s). When deciding o n the best location for the remote controls, please co nsider the following items: 1.
Note: If the cable cannot be run in side the wall ca vity, then the plastic kn ockout should be remove d from the top or bottom of the control to allow flush mounting with the wall. 7. Disconnect the power from the water heater and remove the front cover.
WARNING When the Water Heater or remotely located Main Co n trol is used in public use applications, it shall be installed in a location where it can not be adjus ted by the public (i.e., a m aintenance room or manager’s office). Unauthorized adjust ments may re sult in scalding conditions.
Remote Control Wiring Connections Inside Water Heater (Fig. 11) INITIAL OPERATION AN D TESTING OF CONTRO LS (INSTAL LER ONLY) 1. Turn on power to the water heater and fully open a hot water tap. 2. Check the operatio n of the water heater. Check the ope ration of the remote temperature control(s).
SECTION IX: OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING Water heaters are he at-producing appliances. To avoid damage or injury there must be n o materials stored against the water heater or d irect vent system, and proper ca re must be taken to avoid unnecessary contact (e specially by children) with the water heater and direct ve nt system.
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY READ BEFO RE OPERATIN G WARNING: If you do not follo w these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life. A. This appliance does not have a pilot. It is equipped with a direct ignition device, which automatically lights the burner.
42 CAUTION In climates where below freezing tempe ratures may occur, the water heater must be d rained when power is off to the water heater to prev ent free ze damage to the heat exchanger. Drain sol enoids are recommended to prevent freeze damage during p ower failures in cold climate regions.
TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT DANGER Hotter water increases the risk of scald inj ury. Scalding may occu r within 5 seco nds at a temperature setting of 135 ° F (57 ° C).
7. To display the water flow through the water heat er with hot water in use, depress the “H” bu tton for 2 seconds and then simultaneously p ress the “P” button. (GPM = Display Re adout X 0.1). 8. To display the outlet water temperature while in use, depress the “C” button for 2 seconds and then simultaneously press the “P” button.
6. Pressing the “Maintenance Button” followed by the “H” button will display a se quence of error codes, if any, stored i n memory that has bee n experienced. Any cu rrent error codes will be displayed on the digital monitor in seque nce starting with the most rece nt code.
SCALDING This water heater can deliver scalding temperature water at any faucet in the system. Be careful whenever using hot water to avoid scalding injury. Ce rtain appliances such as dishwashe rs and automatic clothes washers may require increased tem perature water.
FIRST AID FOR SCALDS 1. Remove all wet clothing quickly. Wet clothing retains the heat. 2. Apply cold water to burned are a for 30 minutes to reduce the h eat in the skin and prevent d eeper burning. Never use butter, oils, or ointm ent to cover the burn.
SECTION X: MAINTENANCE WARNING Always turn off the electrical power supply, the manual gas valve, and the manual water control valve whenever servicing this applian ce. KEEP THE APPLIANCE AREA CLEAR AN D FREE FROM COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS, GASOLINE, AND OTHER FLAMMABLE VAPORS AND LIQUIDS.
Burner Flame Appearance (Fig. 13) CAUTION Before manually operating the valve, make sure that a drain line has been attached to the valve to direct the discharge to an open drain. Failure to take this precaution could mean contact with extremely hot water passing out the valve during this che cking operation.
9. Run hose from hot water outlet to a drain. 10. Close the drain valve on the cold water inlet. Leave hot wate r drain valve open. Open cold water inlet to flush with fresh water. 11. Allow water to flow out of the hose for 5 minutes to flush vinegar from the water heater.
