1 I NTRODUCTION W ith the SCSI Card 1505, you can c onnect up to seven SCSI peripher- als to an y IBM-compatible comput er with ISA expansion slots. This installation guide provides step-by-st ep inst.
2 Locate an unused ISA expansion slot (ty pically black) and remov e the expansion slot co ver . Sav e the slot cov er screw for use in Step 5. Computers ma y hav e vertical or horizontal expansion slots. R efer to your c omputer manual to locat e the ISA slots.
3 C ONNECTING I NTERNAL SCSI P ERIPHERALS S TEP 5 S TEP 1 S TEP 2 V erify each int ernal SCSI peripher al you are installing is set t o a unique SCSI ID from 0 to 6.
R emov ing the Resistor P acks Grasp the resistor pack near one end and gently lift until the pins are exposed. Do not remo ve all the way . Re peat for the other end. Grasp the resistor pack fr om the center and r emove. Repeat for the r emain- ing two resist or packs.
5 If it is difficult to reach the back of your internal SCSI peripherals w hen they are mounted in a drive bay , you ma y want to connect the internal SCSI peripherals to the SCSI cable and power supply (Steps 5-7 below) befor e instal ling and mounting each peripheral inside your computer .
Connect the r emaining connect ors on the cable to an y remaining inter- nal peripherals (these per ipherals must not be terminated; see Step 2 abov e). Connect the other end of the cable to the last internal peripheral (this per ipheral must be terminat ed; see Step 2 abov e).
V erify each ext ernal SCSI peripheral you are installing has a unique SCSI ID from 0 to 6. Refer to the peripheral’ s documen- tation to determine the SCSI ID setting . If any two SCSI peripherals you are connecting t o the SCSI Card 1505 share the same SCSI ID, change the SCSI ID on one per ipheral.
8 Connect the other end of the cable t o a SCSI connect or on the back of the ext ernal SCSI peripher al. If you ar e installing only one external peripheral, terminate the peripheral. T ermination usually is contr olled by installing or remo v ing a SCSI terminator .
Connect all po wer cables to the ext ernal peripherals and computer . Continue with the next section to install the SCSI Card 1505 software driver for y our operating system. I NST ALLING THE SCSI 4 2 3 9 S TEP 5 Connect other ext ernal SCSI peripher als by connecting eac h peripheral to the previous one until all per ipherals are connect- ed.
10 Computers with W indows 95 T urn on all external peripherals, if any , and then the computer . W indows 95 now will recognize the SCSI Card 1505 installed in your c omputer and will install the software driv er for it.
Computers with D OS 6.x or A bove T urn on all external peripherals, if any , and then the computer . Insert the A daptec EZ-SCSI Setup Diskette in y our floppy disk drive. 11 Double-click the SCSI Controller icon. The driver for the SCSI Card 1505 is listed as the “ Adapt ec A V A-1505 SCSI H ost Adapt er .
