4 Installing Y our Adaptec Media Reader To i n s t a l l y o u r A d aptec Media Reader: 1 T urn off power to the computer and disconnect the power cord.
5 6 Connect the USB cable to an internal USB port, following your computer manufacturer ’s instructions, or the instructions that came with your USB host adapter . Note: If you don’ t have an intern al USB port, Adaptec recommends the Ada ptec USB2Connect AUA-5100 PCI USB 2.
6 7 T o connect the Floppy D isk drive, you need a Floppy Disk cable and power cable. Note: If y o u d o n o t p la n t o u s e th e F l o p py D i s k d ri v e , y o u do n ’ t have to complete this step. Skip to Step 8 . T he other slots on your Adaptec Media Reader are fully functio nal even when the Floppy Disk drive is not active.
7 Installing the Device Driver s After you’ve installed the Adaptec Media Reader and po wered on your computer , you must install the devi ce driver . T o install the device drivers: 1 Insert the Installation CD int o your CD-ROM drive. Note: The Installat ion W izar d opens automat ically .
8 Inserting and Removing Memory Cards The Figure below illustrates how t o align your memory car ds when inserting them into the Adaptec Media Reader . For detailed instr uctions on inserting and rem oving memory cards, and other important information, refer to the User’ s Guide on the Installation CD.
