6 Getting Started Checklist Complete these steps to install and begi n using your Adaptec ACS-100 USB Enclosur e: ❏ Install the device driver— W indow s 98SE only (see below). ❏ Install a disk drive (see page 7 ). ❏ Connect the enclosure and power it on (see page 9 ).
7 Installing a Disk Drive Before you begin, ensure that you ar e installi ng the proper disk drive. The Adaptec ACS-100 USB Enclosure supports 3.5-inch IDE hard disk drive s only .

9 Connecting and P owering On Note: Windows 98SE users only —Y ou must install the device drivers befor e connecting an d powering on the USB Enclosure. T o connect the cables and power on: 1 Use the included USB cable to connect the enclosure to an available USB port on your computer .
10 Disconnecting Y our USB Enclosure T o disconnect your USB Enclosure fr om your computer , follow the instructions for your operating system. Windows Y ou must use the Unplug or Eject Hardwar e W i zard to properly disconnect the USB Enclosur e from your computer .
