2 6 720 607 030 This well engineered, gas water heater has all the fea- tures a water heater should have: It operates on the principle of heating water instantaneously “on demand”. When a hot water faucet is opened, cold water flows through the coils of the heat exchanger in the Aquast ar.

The appliance area must be kept free of all combustible materials, gasoline and other flammable vapors and liquids.
6 6 720 607 030 Expansion and contraction of piping due to changing water temperature in the pipes imparts movement to the heater which, if mounted directly to a brittle, friable board, such as plasterboard, can cause failure of mounting.
7 6 720 607 030 V ent pipe connection. WARN I NG: Do not reduce t he vent pipe size . See Fig . 4 for high altit ude installat ions The heater must be vented to the outside following all local ordinances and specifications for installing a gas appliance vent or c himney .
8 6 720 607 030 MASON RY CH IM NEY : Masonr y chimneys shall be built and installed in accordance with N FP S 2 1 1 or local codes . A minimum 5” diameter gas vent pipe (met al double wall T ype B ), or an approved clay flue liner or a listed chimney lining system must be used when venting into a naturally drafting, internal masonry c himney .
9 6 720 607 030 T o check t he draft : Close all doors and windows to the outside. T urn on all appliances that force air out of the building . These include all exhaust/ventilation fans, furnaces, clothes dryers, wood burning stoves, etc. Open all doors between the AquaStar and these other appliances.
10 6 720 607 030 GAS LINE SIZING -It is strongly recommended that the Natural Gas pipe be Black Iron pipe the entire distance from the outside meter to the inlet of t he Aquast ar regulat or . 1 /2” Black Iron pipe up t o 1 0 feet , 3/ 4 ” Black Iron pipe up to 4 0 feet and 1” Black Iron pipe up to 1 50 feet distances.
11 6 720 607 030 GAS PIPING, CONNECTIONS and Gas Regulator Before connecting the gas supply, c heck the rating plate on the right side of the front cover to be sure that the heater is rated for the same gas to which it will be connected.
12 6 720 607 030 W A TE R CO N NECTIO N S Install the heater centrally in the building if possible and make hot water piping runs as short as possible When facing the heater , the cold water inlet will be on the right and the hot water outlet on the left.
13 6 720 607 030 LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS (as seen on front cover of heater) 1. S T O P! Read the safety information above on this plate. 2. The Gas valve must be turned off by sliding the gas valve button to the far left under the OFF ( ) mark. 3. W ait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas .
14 6 720 607 030 T o clean t he pilot burner and/ or t he pilot orifice : T urn off the gas at the unit . Remove the cover of the heater . T o do so, pull off the temperature adjustment knob and unscrew and remove the plastic collar and unscrew the central screw located at the bottom of the front cover .

Poor thermocouple connection at the electromagnet Note : Electromagnet is part #8 7072 0 1 01 2 l ocated on the right side of the gas valve behind the piezo push-button assembly . Check the tightness of the thermocouple connection nut at the electromagnet: The Electro-magnet connection is a large aluminum 1 7mm hex head nut.

Crossover in household plumbing The AquaStar burner activates when there is sufficient water pressure drop in the AquaStar water valve assembly — i.e. when a hot water faucet is opened. If there is a crossover in the plumbing, the necessary pressure drop in the AquaStar will be insufficient, or totally eliminated.
