M73-APO01-810 802.11g Wireless LAN Card Quick Installation Guide.
INSTALLATION Caution: Do not i nsert the Wireless PC Car d into your computer un til the procedures in “ Install the Driver & Utility ” has been performed. Install the Driver & Utility 1. Exit all Windows progr ams. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
- 2 - 4. The Choose Destination Location scree n will show you the default destinatio n chosen by the utility. Click Next to c ontinue. 5. Follow the instruction to select th e program folder.
- 3 - 6. Clic k Finish to complete the in stallation.
- 4 - Install the device Note : Make sure the procedures in “ Install the Driver & Utility ” has been p erformed. 1. If you are using the Wireless PCI Car d, before installing t he device, m ake sure the com puter is turned off . Remove the expansion slot cover from the computer.
Note for Windows 2000 users: During the installation, when the “ Digital Signature Not Found” screen appears, click “ Yes” to continue. Note for Windows XP users: 1.
- 6 - 3. Click Continue Anyway. 4. Click Finish to complete the installation . Verify Device Installation To verify t hat the de vice has bee n properly installed in your compu ter and is enabled , go to Start Æ Settings Æ Contro l Panel Æ Syst em ( Æ Hardware) Æ Device Manager .
- 7 - PCI/CardBus PC Card is listed, it means that your device is properly installed and enabled. CONFIGURATION After successful installation of the Wireless LAN Card’s driver, a Networ k Status icon will display in the task bar. You will be able to access the Configuration Utility through the N etwork Status icon.
- 8 - The Network Status Icon The Network Status Icon will display on the t ask bar of your desktop and show the current network connection status of your system.
- 9 - Disconnected from network Accessing the Configuration Utility The Configuration Utility is ac cessed by clicking on the Network Status Icon . All settings are categor ized into 5 Tabs: Main Tab Advanced Tab Privacy Tab Statistics Tab About Tab Main Tab The Main tab displays the current status of t he Wireless Network Adapter.

WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) is a data security m echanism based on a 40 Bit/128 Bit/256 Bit shared key algorithm.
- 17 - CCX ( Cisco Compatible Extension ) . It provides user-based, centralized auth entication, as w ell as per-u ser wir ed equi vale nt priva cy (WEP) session keys. Press the Select button to change CCX configuration. A new dialog window will be opened.
- 18 - (0-9, A-F) is required if a 128-bit Key Length was selected. A key of 58 hexadecimal characters (0-9, A-F) is required if a 256-bit Key Length was selected. Key size 40 Bit , 128 Bit or 256 Bit . CCX Configuration Network Security Typ e None – Choosing it will enable the WEP Select button.
