Y1 - 03 - 0244B 5 What country should I register in? The beacon m ust be registered in the co untr y of the owner’s r esidence. If th e beacon is not programmed to that cou ntry’s cod e and protoco l, and the residence is outside of the USA, the beac on needs to be repro gramm ed.

There are a total of five tests, including a battery ch eck . If all tests pass, SELF - TEST PASS will be displa yed at th e e nd of the Se lf -T est m ode.

Y1 - 03 - 0244B 12 Steps to activate (406 M Hz and 12 1.5 M Hz) To activate your beaco n i n a distress situation, f ollow t hese steps (see Fig ure 3 below). 1) Unclip the anten na from the case. 2) Move it into the upright position 3) Depress the ON /OFF ( ) button for 1 full s econd.

Y1 - 03 - 0244B 14 12. Preventing fals e alerts A false a lert is an y activation of the beacon, intentional or otherwise, that does not result from a situation of grave and imm inent danger. Be sure to do the f ollowing to help m inimize false alert s: // Register your beacon.

Self- test ACR stron gly recom m ends perf orming the Self -test o nce pe r m onth , or at least two weeks prior to a trip allowing enough tim e f or service shou ld your beacon require it. A Self -test is initiated by h olding the Self -test button for at least ½ s econd and less than 5 seconds .
Y1 - 03 - 0244B 17 5. G PS Testing (GNS S Self-T est) This test is NOT required as 100% of all GPS receivers that leave ACR have been tested to ensure they perform correctly. Howe ver, if you would lik e to ensure your G PS receiver is work ing, please f ollow thes e instructions very closely.

Ch anging ow nership or contact informat ion As the o wner of the beacon, it is your responsibility t o advise th e national authority of an y cha nge i n your reg istration inform ation. If you are transferring the b eacon to a new o wner, you are requ ired to infor m the national authorit y.
