Getting S tart ed 3 S tarting Up Installing the SIM/microSD™ Car d and Battery Switch off your phone before installing or replacing the battery, SIM, or memory card. 1. Remove the back cover . 2. Hold the SIM card with the cut corner oriented as shown and slip it into the card holder .
Getting S tarted 4 Removing the Batt er y and SIM/microSD™ Car d 1. Mak e sure that your mobile phone is off . 2. Remove the back cover . 3. Lift the battery up and out. 4. Slide the SIM out. 5. Open the microSD™ card holder . Slide the microSD™ card down gently and remove it.

Getting S tarted 11 Using the Notification P anel Swipe the status bar downward from the top of the screen to open the Notification P anel , where you can see your calendar events , new messages , and current settings—such as call forwarding or call status .
How t o Make Calls T here are many ways to make a call with your phone . And they’re all easy to do . Calling from the Dialer 1. Press the Home Key > . 2. Enter the phone number with the on-screen k eypad. T ap to delete wrong digits . 3. T ap . TIP: To mak e international calls, press and hold to enter the “+”.
Rejecting a Call Drag to the left to reject the call . Muting a Call During a call , you can mute your microphone so that the person you are speaking to cannot hear you, but you can still hear them: T ap Mute to turn your microphone off . The mute icon will appear on the status bar .
Y ou can add contacts on your phone and synchronize them with the contacts in your Google account or other accounts that support contact syncing. T o see your contacts, press the Home Key > . From there , you can tap the tabs on the top to quickly switch to Dialer , Call Log, Contacts, Favorites , or Groups .
Adding a Contact t o F av orites 1. F rom the Contacts Screen, press and hold the contact you want to add to F avorites. 2. T ap Add to favorites from the pop-up menu. TIP: Y ou can also tap a contact and then tap next to the contact’ s name to add it to Favorites .
When you enter a field that needs text or numbers , a k eyboard automatically appears on the screen. Press and hold the input box and select Input method from the pop-up menu to change input method. Android Keyboar d T he Android K eyboard provides a layout similar to a desktop computer k eyboard.
Entering T ext 17 Move your finger from letter to letter to trace a word without lifting the finger until you reach the end of the word. T he trace feature is also available in the Reduced k eyboard layout and Phone keypad layout.
18 Messaging Y our SMS (text message) and MMS (multimedia messaging service) are combined into one menu in Home K ey > . The Message Bo x Instead of an inbox and outbox, your phone organizes all messages you sent and received into one box, where messages exchanged with the same party are grouped into a message thread on the Messaging Screen.
Messaging 19 Notification settings: Notifications: Show message notifications in the status bar . Select ringtone: Choose a ringtone for your incoming messages . Vibrate: Make your phone vibrate when a new message arrives . Signature settings: Edit signature: Edit your signature, which can be added automatically to outgoing messages .
Email 20 Press the Home K ey > . Y ou can enter the Email Screen to setup your email account and exchange emails . Creating an Email Account 1. When you open Email for the first time , enter your email address and password. T hen tap Next . 2. Select the type of your account and tap Next .
21 Replying t o or For warding an Email 1. Open the email you want to reply to or forw ard from the Inbox Screen. 2. T ap Reply or press the Menu Key > Forwar d to reply to/forward the email . Y ou can also tap Reply all to reply to all recipients of the email .
Getting Connect ed t o the Internet 22 Y our phone’s impressive networking capabilities allow you to access the Internet or your corporate network with ease . Y ou can use default connection settings to connect to the web via your mobile network (GPRS/EDGE/3G), or Wi-Fi .
23 Y ou can use your phone to browse the Internet via a GPRS , EDGE, 3G, or Wi-Fi connection. Press the Home K ey > . Opening a W eb Page T ap the address bar to enter the website you want to browse . T hen tap Go . T ap beside the address bar or press the Menu K ey > Bookmarks .
24 Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication technology. Phones or other devices with Bluetooth capabilities can exchange information wirelessly within a distance of about 32 feet (10 meters). T he Bluetooth devices must be paired before the communication is performed.
25 T aking Pictures with Y our Camera Y our phone has a 5-megapixel camera. Open it by pressing the Home K ey > > Camera . T ap to tak e a picture. To view it, just tap the picture in the right corner of the screen. Or press the Menu Ke y > Gallery to view all your pictures.
26 Creating Playlists Playlists help you organize your music files: 1. Select a music file you want to add to a new playlist. 2. Press and hold the file until a shortcut menu pops up . 3. T ap Add to playlist . 4. T ap New . 5. Type the playlist name and tap Save .
Making Memorable Memos Sound Recorder enables you to record your voice memos . Y ou need a microSD™ card to use it. 1. Press the Home Key > > Sound Recorder . 2. T ap to start recording. 3. T ap to stop recording. 4. T ap to play back the voice recording.
28 Signing in to your Google account lets you synchronize Gmail , Calendar , and Contacts between your phone and the web . And if you don’t have an account, you can easily create one . 1. T ap a Google application that needs a Google account, such as Market .
29 Changing Y our Online S tatus 1. T ap the T alk status bar above the F riends list. 2. T ap to change status and then enter your status message in the text box. S tarting a Chat 1. T ap a friend in the Friends list. 2. Chat with your friend by entering text in the message box.
30 Setting Time and Dat e 1. Press the Menu Key > Settings > Date & time . 2. Clear the Automatic check box if you want to set the time and date by yourself .
31 Cannot recall your scr een unlock pattern? Y ou have up to five attempts to unlock your phone. If you still cannot recall the screen unlock pattern, you can tap Forgot pattern? and enter your Google account user name and password to reset the screen unlock pattern.
32 5. Enter your new PIN and tap OK . 6. Enter the new PIN again and tap OK . Restoring a Locked SIM Car d Put all your confidential passwords in a safe place for future use . If you enter the wrong SIM card PIN more times than allowed, your SIM card will be locked and you cannot access the mobile phone network.
33 Managing Y our Device Memory Press the Menu K ey > Settings > Storage . Y ou can view the space information of the microSD™ card as well as the phone storage . • Unmount SD card: Y ou can unmount the card to safely remove it without switching the phone off .
34 Managing Other Settings Search Settings Y ou can manage search settings and search history by opening the Google Search application and pressing the Menu K ey > Search settings . • Google search: Adjust Google search settings. • Searchable items: Adjust searching.
35 Alarms 1. Press the Home Key > > Alarm . 2. T ap the default alarm to configure it. Or , to create a new alarm, press the Menu Key > Add alarm . 3. T ap T urn on alarm and set up Name , Time , Repeat , Snooze , Duration , Vibr ate , Ringtone , V olume , V olume crescendo , and Delay .
36 General Safety For Y our Safety Don’t mak e or receive handheld calls while driving. And never text while driving. K eep your phone at least 15mm away from your ear or body while making calls . Small parts may cause choking. Y our phone can produce a loud sound.
