15 2. Put the N an o S IM cards into the card tray with the cu t corner ori ented a s shown and slip it into the card slot. W ARNING ! To avoid da mage to the phone, do not use any other kin d of SIM card , or any non-standa rd Nan o SIM card cut from a SIM card.
16 2. Put the mi croS DHC card into the ca rd tray w it h the cut corner oriented a s shown and slip it into the card slot. NOTE: Some appli cations may require a mi croSD HC card to w ork normally or m ay store certain data o n it. Ther efore, it is recommended that you keep a microSD HC card installe d and not remove or replace it randomly .
17 Charging the Battery Your phone’ s battery should have enough pow er for the phone to turn on, find a signal , and make a few calls. You should fully charge the bat tery as so on as possib le. If the battery is low , there w ill be a pop-up message on the screen.
18 2. Connect t he charger to a standard AC w all outlet. If t he ph one is on, y ou’ll see a c harging icon, s uch as or , appear o n the status bar. 3. Disconnec t the charger when the battery is fully charge d. NOTE: If the battery is extre mely low , you may be unable to p ow er on the phone even w hen it is being ch arged.
19 Lower the screen brigh tness. Turn auto-syn c, Wi - Fi , and Bluetooth o ff w hen not in use. Disable the GPS functio n when no t in use. M ost applicatio ns using this function w ill periodically query the GPS satelli tes for your curre nt location ; each que ry drains yo ur battery .

Keep pres sing the Volu me Down K ey when no media application is active. When the icon appear s on the status bar, the phone i s set to silen t mode w ith vibration.
27 Protecting Y our Phon e With Scre en Locks You can pro tect your ph one by cre ating a screen lock. When it i s enabled, you need to sw ipe, draw a pattern or ente r a nu meric PIN or a pa ssword to un lock the pho ne’s screen and keys. 1. Touch Setting s > Security on the Home S creen.
28 Protecting Y our Phon e With Encryption You can enc rypt all the data on your phone: Goo gle A ccounts, application data, music and other media, dow nloaded in formation , and so on. If you do, you must ent er a numeri c PIN or a passw ord each time you pow er on your phone .

33 To remove all notifica tions, touch in the bottom righ t corner. Most app s that send no tification s, such a s Gmail and G oogle Talk, ha ve notification settings tha t you can ad just. NOTE: If you turn o ff notification s for an a pp, you may miss its important alerts and u pdates.

35 Remove Shortcuts From a Folder 1. Touch a folder to open it . 2. Touch and hold the shor tcut you w ant to remo ve and then drag it to th e Home Scr een.

43 Connecting to Netw orks and Devices Connecting to Mobile Networks Manage the Nano SIM Cards Y ou can turn on or o ff the Nan o SIM card s, choose the defaul t card for voice calls, messaging, and data . T o turn on o r off a card: 1. T ouch Settings > SI M cards from the Ho me Screen.

47 3. Touch the Menu Key > Add networ k . 4. Enter the ne twork SSID (name). If necessary , enter se curity or other netw ork configuration de tails.
48 Method two: PIN numbe r 1. Touch Setting s > Wi - Fi from the Ho me Screen. 2. Slide the sw itc h to turn on Wi- Fi . 3. Touch the Menu Key > Advanced > WPS P in Entry . 4. The WPS P in number d isplays on the screen . Enter the Pin numb er in to the acces s point’s se tup page.
49 Install cert ificates: Install certifi cates from the memory card. Wi -Fi d irect: Use W i-Fi direct. WPS Push B utton: Conne ct to a W PS netw ork in this way. WPS Pin Entry: Connec t to a WPS netw ork in this w ay. MAC addres s: Check the MAC addr ess.

Choose one of the follow ing options: Charge on ly: Charge you r phone via USB. USB mass sto rage: Tran sfer files betw een your computer a nd your Andr oid devi ce.
54 Connect With Window s Media ® Player Y ou can sync musi c on your pho ne and the computer installed with Window s Media Pl ayer . 1. Connect the phone w ith your co mputer via USB and cho ose Media devi ce (MTP) . 2. Open Windows Media Player and synchroniz e music files.
55 The forma tting procedure erases all the data on the microSD HC card, after w hich the files CANNOT be retrie ved. Sharing Y our Mobile D at a Connection You can sh are your phone’ s da ta ca pabilities through tethering or by acti vating the mo bile ho tspot fe ature to crea te a portable Wi -Fi hotspot.
56 Share Y our M obile Data Connection via Bluetooth If your co mputer can ob tain an In ternet conne ction via Blue tooth, you can con figure y our pho ne to s ha re its m obile d ata connection with your computer. 1. Pa i r yo ur ph on e wi t h y our c o mp ut e r v ia B l ue t oo t h.

60 Phone Calls You can place call s fro m the Phone app, t he People app, or o ther apps or w idgets that dis play contac t informa tion. Wherever you see a phone number, you can u sually touch i t to dial. Placing and Ending C alls Place a Call by Di aling 1.
61 Answering or Rej ecting Calls When you r eceive a phone call, the Incoming Ca ll scree n opens, dis playing the C aller ID or the inform ation abou t the caller tha t you've enter ed in People . You can answ er or reject the call, or reject it w it h a text mes sage.
62 Work ing With the Call Log The Call Log i s a list o f all the calls you've p laced, recei ved, or missed. I t provides a convenient way to r edial a number, retu rn a call, or add a number to your Con tacts. To open the call log, y ou can tou c h the Home Key > an d then touch the RECENT S tab.

73 Remove a Contact From Favorites 1. Touch the Home Key > and tou ch the FAVOU RITES tab. 2. Touch a fa vorite contact and then touch nex t to the contact na me. Searching for a Cont act 1. Touch the Home Key > . 2. Touch at the top of the screen .

90 Calendar Calendar on the phone works w it h the w eb-based Google Calendar ™ se rvice for creating and managing e vents, meetings, and appoint ment s. It also w orks with the Microsof t Exchange ActiveSyn c calendar once you sign into your Exchange account on th e phone.

97 Maps Activating Location S ervices T o use Google Map s and fi nd your lo cation on G oogle Maps ™ , you must h ave location services turned on o n your phone. 1. T ouch Settings > Lo cation from the Ho me Screen. 2. Slide the sw itc h to the ON position to turn on the location service .

Enabling Google No w Google Now gets you just the right information at just the right time.
