9 Chapter 2 Setup f or W indo ws 98SE/ME/20 00/XP Installing Bl uetoot h software for Wi ndows 1. Do not plug the Blu etooth devi ce into y our computer y et. You need to install the so ftware fir st. 2. Insert the i nstallatio n CD into th e CD driv e.
10 Chapter 3 Basic settings Methods f or registering new dev ices using the Bluetoo th Utility shall now be described. A Bluetoo th mouse s hall be con nected an d set up using [Bluetooth Settings ] as an ex ample. [Bluetoot h Settings] pr ovides tw o set-up met hods: "Ex press Mode" an d "Custo m Mode.
11 Note − The same result can be achieved by rig ht-clicking on the Bluetoot h icon in t he task tray and sel ecting [Bluet ooth Setting s] from the menu that a ppears. The [Bluet ooth Setting s] window below will appear w hen other dev ices have already been reg istered.
12 1. Switch the dev ice power ON to ma ke it connectabl e via Bluetooth. 2. Confirm that [Express Mode] has been s elected in the [A dd New Connection Wizard (Welcome to the A dd New Connection Wizard)] window, and click on the [Next] button. Searching for Bluetooth devices w ill start.
13 Note − If no dev ice is found , please c onfirm th at the dev ice has been made conn ectable via Bl uetooth, and cl ick on the [U pdate] butto n. − A further d evice search will be pe r f ormed. Detecting ser vices 1. Select th e device name fr om [Device List ] and click on the [ Next] button.
14 Bluet ooth device detection will commence. Note − If several services (pr ofiles) are suppor ted by the device, the servic e that has been set to the hig hest priority shall be auto matically selected and set up in Express M ode. Please use Custom Mode i f you w ish to select desired services manu ally.
15 Note − W hen the s ettings inf ormation has been registered, a w indow prompting you to enter your Blueto oth passkey (PIN code) may appear. Please enter y our passkey and click on t he [OK] but ton. Ty pically, the PIN code is on t he Blue tooth dev ice.

20 W hen the device has been detec ted, the name and address of the device will appear in the [Add N ew Connectio n W izard (S elect Devi ce)] window . Note − If no dev ice is found , please c onfirm th at the dev ice has be en made conn ectable v ia Bluetoo th, and click on the [Upda te] button.

28 Chapter 4 Making the most of y our Bluetooth de vice Connecti ng to the int ernet Connecting t o the inter net usi ng a modem stati on Setting u p the modem station 1. Turn on the wireless modem station . 2. Right-click the Bluetooth icon in the task tray , and then click on [A dd New Connection] .

34 4. End the connection The window below will appear i f you doubl e-click on the icon in t he task bar. Please click on the [Di sconnect] button w hen y ou want to discon nect from th e Internet. Alternativ ely, please r ight-click on t he icon, and t hen click on [D isconnect].

37 Connecti ng to the int ernet using a mobil e telep hone Important − In order to c onnect to th e Inter net, you must hav e already signed up with a provi der and obtai ned a conn ection ID and password.

49 Note − The user name and p assword ar e entered h ere to allow you to connec t to the access point. The [Add N ew Connection W izard (Confirm Dial-up Setting s)] window will appear.
50 8. Configure the connection method, and then click on the [OK] button. Set the c onnection d estination used for the LAN connecti on set up in (6) abov e as the defaul t connection destinati on, and th en select "Al ways di al my de fault connection.
51 10. Enter the ty pe and name of the icon display ed after registration, and then click on the [Next] button. Please click on the [Nex t] button i f you are s atisfied w ith the setting s. 11. Click on the [Finish] button. The access point ico n will be registered in t he [Bluetooth S ettings] window .
52 Connecti ng to a LAN( LAP) 1. Right-click on the connection icon in the [Bluetooth Settings] window , and then click on [Connect]. 2. Confirm that "Direct connection" has been selected un.
53 A conne ction will be initiated. Note − This is an example of what happens w hen you use "D irect con nection" as a connection name under "Connect t o access poi nt." If a name di fferent from the connection na me is used, that name will appear un der [Connection Destination].
54 3. Enter the IP address and port number of the proxy serv er under [Proxy Server], and then click on the [OK] button..
55 Connecting t o a LAN usi ng an access poi nt[PAN ] Setting up the acc ess point Important − The access point must hav e bee n started and a normal connecti on already establish ed to the netw ork befor e the access p oint is set up. Please r efer to the access point instruction manual for information o n how to set up t he access poin t.
56 The [Add N ew Connecti on Wizar d (Searching for Blueto oth devi ces)] window will appear. 4. Select the dev ice name o f the access poi nt from [D evice List], and then click on the [Next] butt on.
57 You w ill be asked for the Bluetooth passkey in the w indow that app ears. 5. Enter the passk ey under [ Bluetooth Passkey (PIN code)], and the n click on the [OK] button. Service det ection and COM port crea tion will be performed automatically. The [Add N ew Connection W izard (Conn ection Name Setti ngs)] window will appear.
58 The [Add N ew Connecti on Wizard ( Completing the Add N ew Connectio n Wizard) ] window w ill appear. 7. Click on the [Finish] button. The access point ico n will be registered in t he [Bluetooth S ettings] window . This will comple te the access point set-up process.
59 2. Enter the passkey under [Bluetooth Passkey (PIN code)], and then click on the [OK] button. A conne ction will be initiated. Note Please fol low the pr ocedure bel ow if you need to set up a prox.
60 3. Enter the IP address and port number of the proxy serv er under [Proxy Server], and then click on the [OK] button. Sending fi les You can s end and receiv e files oth er than busi ness card dat a with a Blu etooth-enabl ed PC or PDA. Use "File tra nsfer" in t he Bluetoot h Informatio n Exchanger to exchang e files.
61 − The same operation s will be valid as long as the PC and PDA support the FTP prof ile − "File trans fer" cannot be used to s end or receiv e business c ard data. Ple ase instead use "Object Push " to per form these activ ities.

63 Note − W hen using "File transfer", y ou can send individual files as w ell as entire fo lders. 5. Confirm that th e file is being sent.
64 − Additional ly, w ith "File trans fer", you can op en the shar ed folder on the desti nation devic e using Explor er, specify a su bfolder, a nd then send t he file th ere. You can use Properties in the Bl uetooth Infor mation Ex changer to cha nge the location o f the "Shared folder" on t he hard driv e.
65 3. Double-click on the [File transfer] i con A list of devices w ill appear in the [File trans fer] window . In this case, the file will be re ceived from the P DA named "My Mobile".
66 4. Double-click on the [PDA -1] icon The file saved in t he shared f older in "My Mobile" will appear. 5. Right-click on th e file you w ish to r eceiv e, and then select "R eceive file".

69 4. Drag and drop the file y ou w ish to send ov er the destination icon. In this case, the image will be se nt to a mobile tele phone named "BT -Phone-1". The image will be sent. If the image has been sent successfully, the mess age below w ill appear.
70 The messag e below w ill appear i f the im age transmi ssion was unsuccess ful. Please click on the [OK] button to cl ose the mess age, and re peat the pr ocedure.

Select th e device name of the wireless modem station from [Dev ice List], and then click on the [Next] button.

95 Once the pr ogram has fi nished sear ching for th e servi ces, the [Add New Connection W iz ard (Select Serv ice)] window will appear. 6. Select "Fax" under [Select Service], and then click on the [Next] button. The [Add N ew Connecti on Wizar d (Select COM Port)] w indow w ill appear.
96 Note − The mode m station will be installed to the grayed-out COM po rt displayed under [Assignment of COM Port] in t his window. Y ou will be specifying this COM port in Step (3) of " ● Installing a Modem", so p lease write it down for future reference.
97 8. Click on the "A dd..." button in the [Phone and Modem Options] w indo w. The [Add N ew Hardware W izard (Install New Modem)] window will appear. 98 A list of modem ma nufacturers and models w ill appear. 2. Select the desired w irel ess modem from under [Manufacturer] and [Models], and then cl ick on the [Next] button. Note − If you hav e not yet instal led a modem driv er, click on th e "Use Dev ice" button t o install on e from this window .
99 − If no mode m driv ers appear, pl ease sel ect "(Standar d Modem Types)" and "Standar d 33600 bps m odem." A wi ndow will appear where y ou can s pecify the port to w hich you can i nstall t he mode m.
100 Please speci fy the C OM port displ ayed in the window pertaining to Step ( 7) under " ● Setting u p the mo dem station. " 4. Click on the [Continue] button. The wiz ard will display the following w indow by design, but y ou may disreg ard it and click on the "C ontinue " button.
101 6. Confirm that the configured modem has been added to the list in the [Phone and Modem Options] window, and then click on the [OK] button. The [Next] button will be e nabled on the [Add Ne w Connection Wizard (Mod em Settings)] w indow . 7. Click on the [Next] button on the [Add New Connection Wizard (Modem Settings)] w indow.
