Making a Basic Netw ork Connection Before You Start In the foll owing instruction for maki ng a network connecti on, we use the util ity we provided to confi gure your wirel ess network sett ings.
12 To use this adapter in Ad-Hoc Mode 1. Double cli ck the i con on your desktop. 2. Click the “Av ailable Ne twork” button t o scan avail able wi reless network adapters. Do uble cl ick o n the n etwork ada pter th at you ar e g oing to con nect to.

Double click on the A P that you ar e going to conn ect to. 3. Click the OK bu tton to con firm that you a re connectin g to an open wi reless network.

23 A ppe ndix RT -Set Setup Wizard For Win dows 2000 and XP user s to conn ect to a w ireless netw ork easil y , we also provide th e RT -S et setu p wi zard to help users set thei r pre ferred w ireless n etwork step by step.
24 2. The R T -Set scans the ava ilable AP within your LAN. Those AP are listed with their SSID. Click the wireless AP that you are going to con nect wit h a nd t hen click the “Next” butto n. Y o u may also click the “R efresh” butto n to scan wireless AP a gain.
25 5. Configure the IP address for connecting to the network. Y ou may choose “Use the following IP address” to fill in IP addresses manually or choose “Obtain an IP addre ss automatically (recommend)” . 6. After configuring IP addresses, click the “Finish” button to complete .
26 Connect to a wireless ne twork in ad hoc mode 1. T o connect this adapt er to another co mputer , sel ect the “Station (ad hoc)” mo de and click the “Next” button to pro ceed. 2. The R T -Set scans the ava ilable wireless adapt ers within y our LAN.
27 3. The “unsecured network” window may pop up if the adapter you select doesn’t use security encryption settings. Click the “OK” button after your confirmation. 4. Click “OK” after configuring the profile content to be corresponding to the wireless adapter that you are going to connect with.
28 5. Configure the IP ad dress for co nnecting to t he wireless adapter . Y o u may choose “ Use the following IP address” to fill in IP addresses manually or choose “Obtain an IP addre ss automatically” .
29 Use this adapter as an A P 1. T o use this adapte r as an AP (access point), select the “ AP” mo de and click the “Next” button to proceed. 2. Select “Normal User” (recommend) to make an step-b y -st ep co nfiguration. Y ou may also select “ Advanced Users” to configure this AP with more detail.
30 3. Assign an SSID for this AP , which is the name that is going to be identified while other wireless devices scan for available network. Choose to use WEP encryption or not from the drop list and click “Next ” to proceed. 4. Click the “Next” button after co nfirming those settings abov e.
