4 18. If the equipment sh ould start to vibrate abnormally, stop the engine an d check immediately for th e cause. Vibration is genera lly a warning of trouble. 19. Shut the engine off and wait until th e blade comes to a complete stop before removing the grass catcher or unclogging the chute.
5 General Service: 1. Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area. Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly gas. 2. Before cleaning, repa iring, or inspecting, ma ke certain the blade and all mo ving parts have stopped.
6 SECTION 2: SLOPE GAUGE Use this page as a guide to dete rmine slopes where you may not operate safely. Do not operate your lawn mower on such sl opes.
7 SECTION 3: ASSEMBLING YOUR LAWN MOWER IMPORT ANT: This unit is shipped without gaso line or oil in the engine. Be cer tain to service engine with gasoline and oil as instructed in the separate engine manual before op erating y our mower. NOTE: Reference t o right or left hand side of the mower is observed from the opera ting position.
8 Installing Front Wheels • Place the front of the mo wer deck on raised blocks. • Remove lock nut fr om pivot arm assembly, slide wheel onto pivot ar m assembly and secure with lock nut. See Figure 6. • Assemble the othe r side in the same manner.
9 IMPORT ANT: This unit is shipped without gasoline or oil in the engine. Be cer tain to service engine with gasoline and oil as instructed in the separate engine manual before operatin g your mower. SECTION 4: KNOW YOUR LAWN MOWER Read this operat or’s manual and safety rules before operating your lawn mower.
10 • Your lawn mowe r may be equ ipped with a con stant speed thrott le, which is se t at full thro ttle for best performance. • Stand behind the mower and squeeze the blade control handle against t he upper handle.
11 SECTION 7: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN MOWER General Recommendations • Always observe safety rule s when performing any maintenance. • The warranty on this lawn mower do es not cover items that have been subjected to operator abuse or negligence .
12 Maintenance NOTE: When tipping the unit or emp tying the fuel tank keep the air cleaner side of engine up. Never tip the mower more than 90 degrees and do not lea ve the mower tipped for any length of time. Oi l can drain into the upper part of the engine causing a starting pr oblem.
