10 LIFT LEVER The lift lever is used to cha nge the operati ng positio n (height ) of the cutting deck . To operate, move th e lev er to the le ft, th en place i n the not ch best s uited for your appl icat ion.
11 CR UISE CONTROL BUTT ON The cruise control button i s located on the trac tor dash pa nel to the le ft of the ignit ion switch . Push the cr uise contro l butt on whil e travel ing for ward at a desire d spe ed. Whil e hold ing th e button in , release press ure from the Auto Drive ™ pedal.
12 SETTING THE CUTTING H EIGHT Select the he ight posi tion of the cu tting dec k by placin g the d eck lift l ever i n any of the six di fferent cutting hei ght notches on the right si de of the fender .
13 • While co ntinui ng to hold t he cruise butt on in, lift your foot fr om the AutoD rive ™ ped al (you should feel the c ruise l atch enga ge). • If properly en gaged, the cr uise control b utton and th e AutoD rive ™ pedal s houl d lock in th e down po sition , and the trac tor will ma intain t he same for ward s peed.
14 • The operat or must r emain in the t ractor sea t at all times. I f the o perato r shoul d leave the seat witho ut pushing th e PT O knob inwa rd into the disen gaged (OFF) posit ion, the tracto r’s engine will shu t off.
15 Side to Si de If the cutting deck ap pears to be mowing uneve nly, a sid e to side adjustme nt can be performed. Adjust if nece ssary as fol lows: WARN ING: Tu rn the tr actor’s engine o ff, remov e the key from the i gnition s witch an d apply th e tractor’s pa rking b rake be fore m aking any adjustm ents t o the cutti ng deck.
16 Adjust the dr ag links so th at equal len gths are threaded in to the ball joint on the left side an d the ball jo int on t he right side: • Loose n the jam n ut found on the dr ag lin k at the re ar of the bal l j oint. S ee Figure 10 . • Remov e the hex nut and lo ck washer on th e top of bal l joint.

18 • Gr asp the PTO idle r pulley bra cket and piv ot it towar d the dis charge ch ute to rel ieve ten sion on the b elt. Rem ove th e deck belt from th e bottom port ion of the engin e pulley and from around the PT O idler pulley .
19 • Re m ov e t h e d e c k b e l t fr o m t h e electr i c PT O clutc h a n d fr o m aro u n d t h e PT O i d le r p ulley. • Ro u t e t h e n e w b e l t a s s h ow n i n Figur e 14 , arou n d th e d e c k p u lley s , idle r p u ll e y an d electri c PT O cl u tc h .

21 • Slide the belt off of th e varia ble-sp eed pull ey as you lift the p ulley up and o ut throu gh the battery tray op ening. NOTE: Jackin g the rear of th e tractor u p off the ground and se curing it with ja ckstand s at this poin t in the proced ure will ease the fol lowin g steps, but is no t nece ssary .
22 Thread the idler adju stment rod inwa rd or outward to lengthen or s horten the trav el of the double -idler bracket until pro per ad justment is achi eved. • Reassem ble by following t he abov e steps i n reverse ord er. CUTTING BLADES WARN ING: Cu tting b lades are s harp.
23 Charging If the unit has not bee n put into use for an exte nded period of time, char ge the b attery with a n automo tive-ty pe 12-vo lt charge r for a mini mum of one ho ur at six a mps. WARN ING: B atteries gi ve off a n explos ive gas dur ing and for som e time after chargi ng.
