4 • Never operat e the mower in w et grass. Always be sure of your f ooting. A slip and fall can c ause se rious personal injury. Keep a firm hold on the han dle and walk, nev er run. If yo u feel you are losin g your footing, RELEASE THE BLA DE CONTROL HANDLE IMMEDIATELY an d the blade will stop rotatin g within three sec onds.
5 • Keep all n uts, bolts , and scre ws tight to b e sure the equipme nt is in safe workin g condition. • Never ta mper with safet y devices . Check their pro per operation regularly . • After str iking a forei gn obje ct, stop the en gine, remove the wire fro m the s park plug, a nd thorou ghly inspect the mow er for any dam age.

7 SECTION 3: ASSEMBLING YOUR LAWN MOWER IMPORT ANT : This unit is s hipped w ithout gaso line or oil in th e engine. Be cer tain to servi ce engin e with gaso line and o il as instru cted in th e separ ate e ngine m anual before ope rating you r mower.
8 Attachin g Starter Rope • The ro pe guide is attached to the righ t side o f upper handle. Loo sen the wing nu t which s ecures the rope guid e. See Figu re 5. Figure 5 • With t he spar k plug wire di sconnec ted an d grounded , hold the blade contro l hand le agains t the upper h andle, and pu ll th e star ter rope out of the engine.
9 • To remove the grass catche r, lift the rear dis charge door on the mo wer and lift the grass catc her up. Reinstal l the rear mulc hing baffle and releas e the rear disc harge door . WARNING: Before using your la wn mower, again refer to the Safety Se ction in this manual.
10 Starting E ngine • Attach spar k plug wire to s park plug. Mak e certain the metal ca p on the end of the spark plug is fastened s ecurely over the me tal tip on the sp ark plug. • Prime engine as in structed in the separ ate engine manual pac ked wit h your unit.

12 Lubrication Always stop engine a nd disconnect spark plug wire befo re cleaning, lubricating or doing any kind of service work on the lawn mower. Blade Control: Lub ricate the pivot po ints on the blade control handle at leas t once a season with light oil .
13 Clean the engi ne reg ularly wi th a c loth or brush . Keep the cool ing sy stem ( blower housing area) clean to permit prop er air c ircula tion whic h is esse ntial t o engine perform ance and li fe. Be certa in to remove all grass, dirt, and c ombustibl e debris from muffler area.
