4 • Never operat e the mower in wet gra ss. Always be sure of your f ooting. A slip an d fall c an cause serious personal injury. Keep a firm hold on the han dle and walk, nev er run. If yo u feel you are losing y our footing, RELEASE THE BLADE CONT ROL HANDLE IMMEDIATELY an d the blade will s top rotatin g within three sec onds.
5 • Keep all n uts, bolts , and screws ti ght to be s ure the equipme nt is in safe working c ondition. • Never ta mper with safet y devices. Chec k their proper operation regularly . • After str iking a forei gn object, s top the engin e, remove the wire fro m the spark plug, and thoroughl y inspect the mowe r for any damage .

9 Figure 7 Recoil Starter The recoil starter is attached t o the right low er handle. Stand be hind the unit and pull the re coil star ter to start the unit. See Figure 7. Blade Control Handle The blade contr ol handle is located on the upp er handle of the mowe r.

WARNING: Never fill fuel tank indoors with engine running or until the engine has been all owed to cool for at least two minutes after running.

12 Drive Clutch Contr ol Adjustment (Models 820 Thru 829) Use the adjus tment wheel located on the underside of the clutc h cont rol h ousi ng to t ight en t he dri ve bel t, if mower do es not s elf-pr opel with the d rive clu tch con trol engage d, or if drive be lt is slip ping (uni t hesitates while engine mai ntains the s ame speed) .

Be ce rtain the blade is alig ned and se ated on the blade adapter flange s. • Place blade bell s upport on bla de. Mak e sure the notch es on the blade bell suppor t are alig ned with small hol es in the b lade.
