E- 14 SPEAKER SYSTEM CONFIGURA TIONS The most complete speaker configur ation consists of eight speakers: the left and right main speakers, a center speak er, the lef t and right r ear speakers, the left and right front ef fect speakers, and a rear center speaker .

CINEMA-EQ consists of a high-shelving equalizer (HIGH) and a parametric equalizer (PEQ).

This makes it possible to change the jack assignment and effecti vely connect more component.

Choices: MAX, STD, MIN Initial setting: MAX (for both speakers and headphones) Caution • Some types of the Dolby Digital software do not support “ MIN ” for the dynamic range.

E- 72 REMO TE CONTROL FEA TURES Defining the brands of your components The remote control uses RC codes to acti vate components. Because there are se veral brands using specific RC codes, you ha ve to def ine the brands of your components. The remote control is set up by default to oper ate with Y AMAHA components.
E- 73 AD V ANCED OPERA TION English ■ Defining brands b y selecting A list of brands and their corresponding RC codes are stored in the remote control ’ s memory . Select your brand from the list. Because not e very component of a certain brand uses the same RC codes, you might also need to select from a set of RC codes for your brand.
E- 74 REMO TE CONTROL FEA TURES 9 9 T ap . E- 76 Controlling power on/off of your A/V components Using the PO WER control panel, you can simultaneously turn on or off (standby) multiple components without switching the control panel for each component. Notes • This function is ef fectiv e only with components that hav e a power on/of f button on their original remote control.

For actions other than operating (like programming b ut tons, recording macros, adding components, and so on), you have to switch to the appropriate mode: For operating components.
E- 78 Redefining brands If you purchase a new component with a brand that you ha ve not yet def ined in the remote control, you need to redefine the bran d to acti vate your new component. E- 80 ■ Learning device actions A device action is a command that is assigned to a component b utton on the Home menu or a component in the De vice menu. The action is executed e very time you select the component. Note • When you program a de vice action, RC codes are sent the moment you select the component.

E- 84 REMO TE CONTROL FEA TURES Restoring When you delete elements, they are no longer visible in the Use mode b ut remain in the remote control ’ s memory . This allo ws you to restore them. • Y ou can restore a deleted button or a de vice action in the Learn mode.
