PREPARATION PROCEDURE 7 PREP ARA TION English The follow ing preparation steps should be completed before using this unit. ■ Connection of a PC thr ough a USB cable Step 1: (page 8) Connect this unit to th e PC and turn them on. ↓ Step 2: (page 9) Change the settings of th e PC connected to this unit.
PREPARATION PROCEDURE 8 Follo w the procedure belo w to connect this unit to a PC , and then connect the A C adapter . 1 Connect the USB port of this unit to that of the PC using a USB cab le . y In addition to the PC connectio n through a USB cable, this unit can be connected to a PC or T V conference system through audio connection cables.
PREPARATION PROCEDURE 9 PREP ARA TION English T o use this unit as the external micr ophone/speak er unit of your conference syst em, perform following settings on the PC. The follow ing description takes a PC running W indows XP as an e xample. y This unit is recognized as a standard USB audio device by the PC.
PREPARATION PROCEDURE 10 6 Click the “V oice” tab. 7 Change the se ttings as follows. • “V oice playback” f ield - “Default de vice”: Y AMAHA PJP-100UH • “V oic e recording” field - “Default device”: Y AMAHA PJP-100UH 8 Click “OK” to exit the “Sounds and Audio Devices Pr oper ties” box.

CONNECTION USING AUDIO CONNECTION CABLES 12 In addition to the PC connection through a USB cable, this unit can be connected to a PC or TV conference system through audio connection ca bles. Use the follo wing procedure for the connecti ons and settings.

15 CONFIGURA TIONS English Y ou can configure the settings of this unit using the operation keys on this unit. See “Setting Menu List” (page 16) for details on the settin g menu configuration and parameters of each menu item. 1 Press in the initial displa y .
SETTING MENU LIST 16 This section describes the setting menu items av ailable with this unit. ■ Selecting the audio pic kup area (micropho ne mode) Y ou can select the audio pi ckup area of the microphone during call. The defau lt setting is “Zone”.
17 SETTING MENU LIST CONFIGURA TIONS English T o specify the ar ea to which this fe ature is available, use the area select keys in “Micro phone Mode” menu, and then press . According to the pressed keys, audio in the area of the following f igure is picked up or not.
18 SETTING MENU LIST • Room Size is the function for reducing echo on the other party of communication. R oom Size cannot reduce the echo that is heard from the unit installe d on the loc al location. • Positions “Medium” and “Sma ll” can improve the echo processing capability but lo we rs the communication quality .
19 CONFIGURA TIONS English Y ou can download the f irmware (program to control the functions of this unit) to use the latest feat ures. T o use the revision upgrading func tion, yo u should accept the follow ing softw are li censing agreement.
20 UPDATING THE FIRMWARE After the latest f irmware is do wnloaded into a PC , use the PJP Writer softw are to transfer the firmware to this unit and upgrade it. • Once re vision upgrading of this unit is started , never per form any other operation until the upgr ading is completed and this unit is restarted.
21 ADDITIONAL INFORMA TION English Refer to the following tables when this unit does not function properly . If the pr oblem you are experiencing is not listed or if the instructi on does not help, contact th e nearest authorized Y AMAHA dealer or service center .
22 TROUBLESHOOTING Q2: A problem in the communication audio Prob lem Cause Remedy The audio from the other unit cannot be heard. The microp hones are mut ed on the o ther unit. The audio is in terrupted. Audio co nnection cables are disconnect ed or connected im properly .
23 ADDITIONAL INFORMA TION English Y ou can restore the f actory settings of this unit. Before restoring the factory settings, note the following. • All of the settings that have the default settings are set to the default settings. • Once the factory settings are re stored, the previous settings made by the user ca nnot be recalled.
