2 The MusicCA ST MCX-CA15 Dist rib u ted Audio Amplifier (hereafter , the “MCX-CA15”) is designed to output 34 W (17 W per channel) of high-quality power paired with a MusicCAST MCX-C15 Distributed Audio Controller (hereafter, the “client ”) to complete the MusicCAST system , or as an a mplifier integrated with an existing audio system.
3 INTR ODUCT ION After unpacking, check that you re ceived all of the follo wing parts. SUPPLIED ACCESSORIES MCX-C15 Distributed Audio Controller UB MCX-CA15 Distributed Audio Amplifier ATTENTION: These units must be installed by a qualified technician.
4 1 AU D I O O U T j a c k s Connect a receiver or amplifier (audio input source) to these jacks. 2 A UD IO IN jack Connect an external stereo source, such as a DVD player or control amplifier if you want to listen to audio from that source.
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS 5 INTR ODUCT ION 1 MODE switch Switches between operation modes “ A”, “B” and “C” (see page 10). 2 RESET b utto n Resets this unit after the prote ction circuitry has been activ ated or the operation mode has been changed (see page 11).
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS 6 1 SPEAKER OUT terminals Connect speakers to these jacks using commercially av ailable speaker cables. 2 DC IN/OUT terminals When this unit is connected to a client only , connect the DC po wer cable to th ese terminals to supply power to the client.
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS 7 INTR ODUCT ION 1 A V IN jack Connect a client to this jack using the CA T -5 cable (straight) supplied with th e client to input signals from the client. 2 CONTROL OUT/IN jack Connect another MCX-CA 15 or an external component to this jack to control the power of this unit.
8 The MCX-CA15 features three diff erent operation modes for user flex ibility . Before using the MCX-CA15, you must set the operation mode to either “ A”, “B ” or “C” depending on your system configuration. Be sure to set the operation mode b efore connecting the MCX-CA15 to a live power source.
OPERATION 9 USING THE MCX-CA15 ■ Mode comparison an d opera tion outlin e The various functions of each jack are as follo ws: IR output The IR/CTRL jack on the front panel functions as an IR output jack in “ A” mode . Y ou can connect an IR flasher to this jack to co ntrol a Y AMAHA A V receiv er using Y AMAHA A V link technology .
OPERATION 10 ■ T o switch the operat ion mode Y ou can switch between the operation modes on the MCX-CA15 by sliding the MODE switch located on the inside front panel to the left a nd right. • Always c heck that the operation mode is set correctly bef ore performing automatic or manual configuration on the client.
OPERATION 11 USING THE MCX-CA15 In “B” mode, the MCX-CA15 automaticall y activ ates (exits sleep mode) when its circuitry senses a signal input from an external source connected to the A UDIO IN jack. Y ou can use INPUT SENSE to change the detectable signal threshold.
12 Refer to the chart below if the MCX- CA15 does not function properly . If the problem you are experie ncing is not listed below or if the instruction below does not he lp, disconnect the power co rd, and contact the nearest authorized Y AMAHA dealer or servic e center .
