8 Getting S tarted Setup Use the fol lowin g proce dure to i nitia lly set up your W orkCentre. 1 Open the shipping carton on a f lat, stable surf ace. Rem ove all pack ing mater ials and com ponents . Check the set of com ponents with the component list.
Getting S tarted 9 5 Attach a printer cable . USB cable (onl y for W indows 9 8 PCs): Pl ug one end int o the U SB port on the back of the W orkCentre, and the oth er end in to the USB port on your PC.

32 Scannin g Scanning You can s can a doc ument wi th the XK 35c. W hen you installed t he X K35c software, t he TW AIN driv er was a lso inst alled. By usin g a scan ning pro gram , such as Pa gis Pro (supp lied b y Xerox on a separ ate CD-RO M), you can use the XK35c scan f unction.
Scannin g 33 6 Lift the platen c over, and p lace your docum ent on the d ocum ent glass. 7 Once you have inv oked the s canner driver, th e tab m enu will be displa yed. Clic k the Scan button in the tab m enu to start the s can process . When the s canning proces s begins, th e W ork Centre Displa y will show the m ess age PCS .

Each t im e you replace the ink cart ridge , you are rep laci ng the pr int head as well. W hen you notice th e pr int becom es light or one of the low ink Diag nostic D ispla y turns o n, rep lace your cartridge.
Maintenanc e 50 8 Insert the ink c artridge i n the car tridge h older, t hen push t he ink cartr idge firm ly to the rear of the m achine u ntil it click s into pl ace. If the ink cartr idge m oves loose l y in the carr ier, it h as not c lick ed into place.
Maintenanc e 51 Cartridge Alignment You shou ld print the cartr idge a lignm ent test if vertic al lin es or char acters appear c rook ed. The car tridge al ignm ent test will stra ighten the ver tical lin es. To Align the Cartridge from your PC: 1 Open the X erox W ork Centre Control Progr am on LPT 1.
