This addendum describes how to upgrade the F iery EXP250 Color Ser ver system software to include features that wer e not covered in the version 1.

System U pdates checks the ser ver for new updates and displays a message indicating whether or not updates are available.

Select the check box for Check for I mpor tant System U pdates. 2 Select the option that describes how y ou want System Updates to r espond when new updates are av ailable.
P age 5 Installing sy stem updates manually If y ou selected a pr eference to be notified of system updates in the System U pdates Prefer ences window , a pop-up message appears when new updates are available. Click the pop-up message to open the System U pdates window .
P age 6 Updating sy stem softwar e through W ebT ools Y ou can also check for system software updates from a secur e site on the Internet. Updates to user software may also be available. T O CHECK FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES 1 Start W ebT ools. 2T ype the Administr ator password and click OK.
P age 7 9 After the Fiery EXP250 reaches idle , reboot the Fiery EXP250. U sing the Fiery EXP250 Control P anel, choose Shut Do wn from the Functions menu, and then choose Reboot System. The Control P anel should display the version as version 1.0SP1.
P age 8 Uninstalling Fiery EXP250 printer driver s To uninstall Windo ws printer drivers, refer to the section “U sing Fiery Printer D elete Utility ” in the P rinting Utilities chapter of Printing fr om Windows on the U ser Documentation CD. To uninstall Mac OS X printer drivers, use the follo wing procedure.

P age 11 Cancel on Mismatch Cancel on Mismatch option The Cancel on Mismatch option causes a job to be cancelled if the media specified for the job (size and weight) is not available. The job is cancelled with an error and mo ved to the Printed queue, allowing the F iery EXP250 to continue printing other jobs.

P age 15 Tr ay 5 Media Protection Tr ay 5 Media Protection option By default, a job prints with the copier’ s default media type, which is Plain, because the default setting for the Media T ype print option is U se Machine Settings. H owever , T ray 5 (Bypass) does not detect the media type actually loaded in the tray .
P age 16 Manual duplex printing Manual duplex printing using T ray 5 (Bypass) or Tr ay 6 (Oversized) M anual duplex printing is supported using either T ray 5 (Bypass) or T ray 6 (Oversized) as the paper source.

P age 20 Production Printing P ackage Production Printing P ackage featur es The P roduction Printing P ackage (available as an option) offers F iery EXP250 operators (or users with Operator or Administrator privileges) various additional featur es to monitor and manage the print workflow of jobs on the F iery EXP250.
P age 21 Compose The Compose application allows you to define the chapter divisions of a job , print ranges of pages on varying types of media, insert blank media between pages, and insert tab media containing text labels. Y ou can also preview the job as thumbnails and full screen previews, and edit documents using Acrobat and P itStop.
P age 22 T O ACCESS P APER C ATALOG FROM C OMMAND W ORK S TATION •T o open P aper Catalog from Command W orkStation, select a spooled/held job in the Activ e Jobs window and choose P aper Catalog from the Serv er menu.
P age 23 Reorder Jobs The F ier y EXP250 processes and prints batches of selected jobs in order of each job ’ s place in the queue. The Reorder J obs feature allows y ou to control the processing or printing priority by reordering the job queue.
P age 24 Suspend on Mismatch Suspend on M ismatch puts a job on hold when the Fiery EXP250 cannot start printing due to missing resources or a color profile mismatch. O ther jobs in the queue continue to print on the F ier y EXP250. The reasons for a job being suspended are: •S pecified paper type or size are not available.
P age 25 Schedule Printing The Schedule P rinting feature allows you to set a specific date and time for printing a job. Assign Schedule P rinting settings to a job from the following areas: •J ob .
P age 26 Print Next The P rint Next feature mo ves a selected job immediately to the printing queue. If another job is currently printing, the selected job for P rint Next is printed immediately after . Process Ne xt The P rocess Next featur e moves the selected job immediately to the processing queue.
P age 27 The Insert T ab dialog box appears. 3T o load a pre viously saved tab setting, click Load Setting, highlight the desired tab setting, and then click Select. 4 Enter the number of tab pages that y ou want to insert into the document in the T otal number of tabs field.
11 After you finish specifying the tabs , click OK to close the Insert T ab dialog box. The T abs T ext dialog box appears. U se the following procedure to define the tab text. T O SPECIFY TAB TEXT 1 In the T abs T ext dialog bo x, select the “ Apply same text attributes f or all tabs” option to assign the same text attrib utes to all tabs.

F or more information, see “T o insert tab pages ” on page 26. 6 After you finish specifying tab te xt, click OK to close the T abs T ext dialog box. The Mixed M edia dialog box displays the current tab settings in the M ixed Media Definition list.
P age 30 Specifying filter settings for a Hot F older After specifying the filter settings and options for your Hot F older , drag and drop the proper file formats onto your Hot F older to begin the conversion process. Open the F ilter Settings dialog box from the F older P roperties dialog box.
