975-0390-01-01 31 T roubleshooting This section will help you narrow down the source of any problem you encounter . Before contacting customer service, please work through the steps listed below: 1. Check for any error codes disp layed on the display screen.
32 F reedom HF Owner’ s Guide Common Problems Buzz in Audio Equipment Some inexpensive s tereo systems ma y emit a buzzing noise from their loudspeakers when operated from the Fr eedom HF. This oc curs because the power supply in the audio system does not ad equately filter the modified sine wave produced by the inverter .
975-0390-01-01 33 W arning Messages W arning messages in the form of audibl e alarms and error codes that appear on the display panel screen to aler t you to an impending system change. W arnings do not affect operation. W ith the exception of the error code s displayed on the screen, only the audible alarm can be tur ned ON or OFF .
34 F reedom HF Owner’ s Guide Wa r n i n g M e s s a g e s Low battery voltage detected depending on setting, see “Operating Limits” on page 21. Inverting • Check battery status and re charge if necessary . • Check for proper DC cable sizing.
975-0390-01-01 35 W arning Messages For err or codes to : • the unit will stop inverting, and • the display screen and the alar m will turn off af ter 30 seconds.
36 F reedom HF Owner’ s Guide T roubleshooting Refer ence ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND ENERGY HAZARD Do not disassemble the Freedom HF . It does not contain any user- serviceable parts. Atte mpting to serv ice the unit yourself could result in an electrical shock or burn.
975-0390-01-01 37 T roubleshooting Re ference Low output voltage (96 volts AC–104 volts AC) during Inverter mode. Y ou are using a voltmeter that cannot accurately read the RMS voltage of a modified sine wave. Use a true RMS reading voltme ter such as the Fluke 87.
38 F reedom HF Owner’ s Guide T roubleshooting Re ference No output voltage. The S tatus LED is green or yellow . GFCI has tripped or 15A supplementary breaker has tripped.
975-0390-01-01 39 T roubleshooting Re ference No output voltage. The status LED is not lighting up. The jumper wire on the power module panel connecting the “Ignition Control” and “Disabled” term inals is removed and there is no ignition signal present.
40 F reedom HF Owner’ s Guide Inverter Applications The Freedom HF performs differen tly depending on the AC loads connected to it. If you are having problems with any of your loads, read this section. Resistive Loads These are t h e l oads that the inverter finds the simplest and mos t efficient t o drive.
