5 4 Intr oduction The X10 Supervised Security System is built around a Security Console with an automatic dialer that calls neighbors or friends in the ev ent of a break in. Battery powered RF Door/Windo w Sensors and Motion Detectors are used to trigger the alar m, with RF Handheld and K eychain Remote controls for arming and disarming.
7 6 Installation Security Remote Registering the Security Remote with the Security Console • Set the code wheel on the Security Remote to the same House Code as the Security Console. • Fit four AAA Alkaline batteries in the battery compar tment in the bac k of the remote.
9 8 Installation Installing the Door/Window Sensor • Attach the Door/Window Sensor to the wall using the mounting scre ws provided. • Fit the Door/Window Sensor as high as possible at the top of the door/windo w .
11 10 T esting the Motion Detector • Set the slide switch on the Motion Detector to position 1. • Press and hold the TEST button f or about a second. The LED flashes twice when y ou release it. • Wait 20 seconds f or the sensor to settle. • Walk in front of the Motion Detector .
13 12 Installation Lamp Module Installing the Lamp Module to control the security light • Set the House Code and Unit Code dials to match the settings on the Security Console. This allo ws it to be controlled from the security light buttons on the remotes.
15 14 Setting up the Dialer Programming Phone Numbers Note: y ou should program the console to call a friend, relative or neighbor who can then listen-in to your home to determine if there is a real problem. The person can then call the P olice if necessary , or call y ou bac k to see if ev erything is fine.
17 16 Using the Security System Console Zone Indicators The console displa ys the status of the first eight zones . These indicators can displa y four states, as f ollows: Steady on - means that particular door or window is open. Steady off - means that particular door or window is closed.
19 18 Door/Window Sensors and Motion Detector s Battery Replacement If any if the Console's zone indicators flash slo wly , the Motion Detector or Door/Window Sensor for that z one has not repor ted in during the last four hours . This is most lik ely caused by a dead battery .
21 20 T r oubleshooting If you hear a repetitive troub le alarm when you try to ar m the system, and it does not ar m. Chec k the zone indicators. If a door or window is open, its z one indicator is on. If there is a problem with a Sensor or Motion Detector , its zone indicator flashes slowly .
23 22 T r oubleshooting If you do not hear a beep from the Console when you press TEST to install a Door/Window Sensor or Motion Detector . With the Console in the R UN 2 mode, check that it chimes when you press TEST on the sensor/motion detector .
